Wait 2 weeks because it takes them roughly that long to process it into their system.

I'd give them a good 5 business days. We sent ours on 3/2 (Monday) & it got delivered on 3/3. I called on 3/9 (Monday) and had a near panic attack, for the nice lady at the State Department said that the paperwork hadn't been received! But, I called again, the following afternoon (3/10), and this time, a different nice lady said it had been "logged" on 3/9. Guess I called too early on Monday morning.

In Montreal!

And after spending about an hour re-organizing my folder, re-doing the little tabs, packing my tiny purse with passport $131USD etc, I believe I am 100% ready! Well 99%... still have to go get the express post envelope, but I know where to get it and was just waiting on the post office in the pharmaprix to open at noon.

I walked to the consulate this morning to make sure I could find it and figure out if it's walking distance or not (it is... about 15 minutes from the hotel).

So now I have the rest of the day to drive myself crazy obsessing over stupid things that I have already double and triple checked but still am not sure I have them :P

At least it's nice weather to go walk around and stuff, but I can't say that I am totally in the mood for that. I pretty much just want to get this over with!

  • 7/7/08 -- I-129f sent
  • 7/9/08 -- I-129f received at CSC
  • 7/24/08 -- NOA1 (finally!)
  • 12/2/08 -- NOA2 (WOOT!!!!)
  • 12/8/08 -- received at NVC
  • 12/22/08 -- packet 3 (with packet 4 attachment instead of checklist :P)
  • 12/29/08 -- packet 3 sent back with bits and pieces that I pulled together to make up a packet 3
  • 1/5/09 -- actual packet 3 received, but found out by via e-mail that they were satisfied with what I had already provided
  • 2/10/09 -- found out via call to DoS that my interview is scheduled!
  • 3/16/09 -- interview!!!! APROVED!!!
  • 4/7/09 -- MOVE!!!!!!!!
Crossed at Detroit/Windsor Tunnel... pretty painless, about 45 minutes, inexperienced officer, asked for and received EA stamp
  • 4/13/09 -- Married in New Orleans!!!!!!!!
  • 5/30/09 -- Filed AOS/AP/EAD
  • 6/1/09 -- AOS etc received in Chicago

How do most people find out when the interview is sheduled? By calling DoS or do they mail out something to the beneficary?

Usually both... they do mail you your appt date of course, but many of us are too impatient to wait for it and call DOS many times per week :D

In retrospect I should have bought the XpressPost envelope when I got there too... the envelope is just so huge, flimsy, and rather ungainly. Unfortunately my train arrives at 9:45pm this Wednesday and my interview is the next day, so there would probably be no way to get one in time.

ps-good luck!
