Hi everyone

Ive recently come over to the states on a k1 and am due to marry in jan. Im just trying to get a head start on this whole AOS and have a few questions

1- How long after youre married can you wait to apply for AOS? (we're planning to do it as soon as possible but just want to make sure)

2-On all the AOS forms, do you now use your married last name or your original name?

3-I have done camp america and therefore wrked in usa twice. On the employment authorization form it asks if ive applied for work authorisation from USIC before. I just applied through camp america agency and ten obtained a j1 visa through my interview in london which therefore enabled me to work so whats the right answer for this?

4- when it says last entry to the usa, is it talking about last trip or this time round when ive entered the usa (so a few weeks ago)

5-and how long does it normally take to get a work authorisation form?

Thanku so much to all those that can help me out with answers

1- How long after youre married can you wait to apply for AOS? (we're planning to do it as soon as possible but just want to make sure)

Can be mailed in the same day you get married...make sure you signed everything and date it the day you're mailing it out

2-On all the AOS forms, do you now use your married last name or your original name?

You can use whatever name you want to be known as...I wanted to use my married name so that's what I put...where it asks "Other names used" just put maiden name there.

3-I have done camp america and therefore wrked in usa twice. On the employment authorization form it asks if ive applied for work authorisation from USIC before. I just applied through camp america agency and ten obtained a j1 visa through my interview in london which therefore enabled me to work so whats the right answer for this?

Be honest...If you've had authorization to work here b4 state it...not sure though how the camp america thing works (maybe someone else can clarify this question)

4- when it says last entry to the usa, is it talking about last trip or this time round when ive entered the usa (so a few weeks ago)

You put the date of LAST entry which would be this time around

5-and how long does it normally take to get a work authorisation form?

Normally takes about 3 months to receive work authorization once filed (as long as you haven't received any RFE's (request for more info) which delays it a little

Thanku so much to all those that can help me out with answers

1. There is no time limit, people have waited a couple of years to file. As long as you marry within 90 days, you are ok.

2. Enter the name you plan to use going forward.

3. I think it means if you have filed an I-765 before, I don't know if work visas count.

4. The date you entered on the k-1 (that would be last time you entered the US since you can't leave until you adjust status)

5. About 3 months, give or take
