hi!

i would like to ask for clarifications on getting the vaccines with the civil surgeon.. when is the best time to get the needed vaccinations? is it before getting married or after getting married?

i will be arriving on NC on nov 11, and will be staying there until 3rd week of january until my fiance comes home from his current deployment then i will transfer to NJ where he is living.. can i get the vaccinations while waiting for him or do we need to get married first to proceed with the vaccination.

and will it be also a problem if i get my shots in NC and file AOS at NJ later? thanks a lot!

You can get your vaccinations anytime, even in your own country before you come to USA! The sooner you get them, the better, because the civil surgeon needs to give the proof for AOS. You need two doses of MMR and Varicella vaccinations, and the second dose is only given several weeks after the first one - so it is not like you can get all the required vaccinations in one day. My husband had his first dose in his country then the second dose here in USA.

Check with civil surgeons on current vaccination requirements. Others who went through the process recently can advise what to get.
