I've contacted one of our senators to inquire about our case. They will not give me a timeline as to when I might expect a result. So I was wondering how long it took for others. Thanks.

Stay on them..............they have a bad habit of telling you what you want to hear.........

One senator's office....I reuqested an inquiry. They said they sent it......I never heard from them again.

Another senatorial office, I contacted more often....over an 8 month period ....but the results were not what I had originally expected, and in the end...left me pretty disappointed and they seemed to be able to do little more than what I could do on my own.

I spent those 8 months trying to get a response from USCIS , by contacting my senatorial office for help...and in those 8 months, I never ONCE got a reply from USCIS. Not even once..............

I eventually hired a lawyer in frustration.

Keep in mind...there are 50 states ....and twice as many senators.........so the results might be different for you. I can only speak from my own experience.

Just keep your expectations realistic........and call them....before they call you. (or they might never)

I would try and approach a senator that is up for election - I think that drastically improves your chance of help/a quick response (am I too cynical????)

You DEFINITELY need to stay on them; don't wait for them to call you. I contacted all three of my congressmen when I was having trouble with our K-1 application. One of them sent an inquiry right away and heard back about a week later, and contacted me. One of them never did anything despite repeated calls, and the third didn't even call me back until 6 weeks after my original message.

Moral of the story is, find out when the immigration specialist is there, and call on those days (might be every day for yours, but with the ones I contacted they were usually there 1 or 2 days a week) every week.

Well I don't mind calling them--every day if need be! I have a Jr. Congressman trying to replace one of the old senators. I guess my vote will go to whoever gets me help first! Thanks for the replies.
