hi there!

i've just signed up on this site but i have been reading a lot of info on this site. i got a serious problem. i am a filipino, my boyfriend is a US citizen. we have been planning for a K1 as it seems this is the fastest for me to join him in the States. i am currently based in singapore and i hold a filipino passport. problem is when i requested for an authenticated birth cert from the national statistics office, the record that appears as my birth place is cabuyao, laguna. i was born in quezon city and all my legal documents including my passport indicates that this is so. my dad registered me twice in two different civil registry.

i have been trying to sort this out with the NSO since september 08 but my brother, who i've authorized to transact on my behalf, is being given the run around. if my boyfriend and i would have to wait till this government agency decide what to do, it might take a year or so, notwithstanding the court proceedings that will follow if they have to cancel my other birth cert.

is there a way of getting around the authenticated nso birth cert (yellow document)? does the US immigration honor the locally issued birth cert (issued by the quezon city civil registry) since this was also authenticated by the local nso in quezon city?

That's the same with my siblings' problems, they changed their passports instead of birth certificates. That's the easiest and every agency is following the original birth certificate. My brother is in Saudi and my sister is in Canada already.

We had an issue with my fiance birth cert. from NSO also.

She was registered twice with two different last names.

We were able to obtain both copies of the Birth Cert. from NSO and only turned in the correct one.

Question:

Will NSO release your Birth Cert. with Quezon City as your birthplace?

Or do you have a copy of your Birth Cert. with Quezon City as your birthplace?

hi! thanks for replying. what nso has released is my Cabuyao birth cert. the Quezon City birth cert is not showing. my passport indicates birth place as Quezon City. forms that i have filled up here in singapore would say i was born in Quezon City.

Am glad that both of you are together. Cheers!

hi! thanks for replying. did they undergo any legal procedure? coz my transcript in college also shows my birth place and if i start using cabuyao, laguna as my birth place, i might have some problems later on.

cheers!

You can't post questions to the Consulate here on VJ, but you could email them I suspose?

Here is a link to the Consulate email procedures. On the bottom left corner is other ways of contacting them.
