Hi, Can anyone give me an estimated time (average) from NVC to Guangzhou Consulate? I know that Guangzhou has more "delay" than others in receiving cases.. from my research I saw that about 4 months time? Thanks.. We are currently going with the I-130 now.. I'm guessing the I-130 also takes longer at NVC than the I-129F?

reason I ask is that my lawyer took their sweet time in receiving the bill (said the bill was mailed out 10/7, case was received 9/30) and that they just received the bill yesterday (10/21)... does it really take that long now? my dates are much longer than what I see from other people..

well, I had gotten the lawyer to do my writ of mandamus originally.. and they got it approved.. so I guess I relied on them too much.. well, what would you have done if you waited over 500 days just to get an approval? and all the government workers giving you different answers everyday.. my case got transferred to the local office too and I had a local office interview for my I-130..

I know about your story... how can we not... your writ of manadamus however is over... your need for reliance on an attorney is also potentially over... if you want to speed things up now YOU need to take over.... an attorney will allow things to progress naturally and will not anticipate the next step like you can if YOU do it...

FWIW a case file to Guangzhou is 3-4 months it seems

If you want to get through NVC rapidly, having to go through a lawyer is going to be more of a hinderance than help. A lawyer is unlikely to be willing to use the short cuts. In fact they will probably come up with some legal mumbo jumbo for advising against their use. What they ideally want is to process your visa with the minimal amount of work on their part.

Others from Guangzhou can confirm but that is my recollection.... I had a person whose file left NVC the same time as mine (March 2007)... Guangzhou acknowledged receipt sometime in late July.

thanks payxibka and ninjarocket! well, guess I'm going the slow way this time because of me.. :whistle: well, hopefully it shouldn't take that much longer than the shortcuts.. hopefully just 1 or 2 months more.. wow, 3 months just for Guangzhou to receive it.. you would think they would allow some kind of expedited shipping or something... in a way taking longer is good for me too.. My wedding anniversary is end of March and if by next year, it will be two years and hopefully we can get the IR1 instead.. that would be a good trade-off I suppose..

Something about customs or something... I never understood the why... One would think i they would use the diplomatic "pouch system it would be quicker... maybe that is not done so much anymore.

our case left NVC on 7/2 and was delivered to GUZ on 7/22, but the consulate didn't open the case till 8/29. and we just became eligible for an interview since last week but no date has been scheduled yet. i hope this information would help you to estimate the process time in GUZ.

07/16/08 - DHL Delivered???

07/22/08 - Package arrived China, needs 4 weeks to 2 months to be open - according to DOS

07/28/08 - was told to call to check for updates. As of today, still waiting for GUZ to open package.

08/29/08 - Package open and P3 send out

09/09/08 - P3 Received

09/09/08 - P3 sent back to GZ

10/31/08 - P4 Received

11/26/08 - Interview
