Timeline

Hello!

So I was looking at the USCIS website and at the VisaJourney website but I still have some questions about timelines and the overall process that I was hoping someone could help us with.

So...USCIS received our AOS application on June 25th 2008. Since then, my husband has had his biometrics appointment and has received his work and travel authorization. Now I'm wondering, what next, and when?

I know we're waiting to be contacted about setting up an interview, but I was wondering if someone could give me an idea about when that might be?

Also, after the AOS is approved, what will my husband technically be? A permanent resident? And then I know you apply to remove conditions and eventually apply for citizenship, but when can this occur?

Thank you so much for your help, I really do appreciate it very much :)

Have a lovely day!

It's hard to give you accurate answers about your case if you don't fill out your timeline. Click on "My Assistant" above, then click "Edit / Add my Timeline" and fill it in. AOS usually takes about 6 months or less to be approved, but some people have waited up to a couple of years. It depends on whether you are interviewed and how backed up your local office is.

For the other questions... after your AOS is approved, you are a permanent resident. You receive a conditional greencard, good for 2 years. Just before the 2 year mark, you wil need to remove conditions. When processed, you will receive a 10-yr unconditional greencard. After you have been a permanent resident for 3 years, you are eligible to apply for citizenship (naturalization).

Btw, this is all based on the marriage to the USC who originally petitioned for your K-1.
