I just had my interview this afternoon. Passed the interview and got the same day oath ceremony.

It was scheduled for 1:25PM at ATL USCIS. They're running about 20 minutes behind. The IO didn't ask any documents that I brought. I mentioned that I brought the IRS transcript when she asked if I paid tax, and she heard the "yes" and never asked about the transcript. went through the N-400 and had me signed the n-400. She then gave me the civil test. She wrote down the answers to all six questions I gave. Asked where I wife was and I told her that she was sitting next to me when she called me in to have the interview. She was trying to figure out where my home is (about two hours from ATL). She told me that it's too late for "today's ceremony" but asked me to wait downstairs (waiting room for ceremony) to see if she can get me in for the same day ceremony. The IO was very professional and very nice.

They called my name AFTER all relatives/friends were in their seat in the ceremony room. I guess I was very luck, just couple of minutes before they started. The lady said there were "even 100" people from 44 countries. guess what my number is? 101, actually I didn't even have a number, that's how close it was for me to get into the same day ceremony. My (FORMER) country was not on the list she called out during the ceremony so I stood up after everybody else stood up.

After the official ceremony, the lady made it very clear, U.S. does NOT recognize the Dual Citizenship -- Use your US passport to enter US or else. She gave "authorization" for everybody in that room to make copies of their own naturalization certificate.

Thanks everybody. My long immigration journey is over.

Please update my timeline: interview 2/09/2009, oath 2/09/2009.

It's over... I'm a 100% certified (organic) American Citizen. The Oath had the format described many times in this forum without any surprises. Got my Certificate, got an appointment letter to the Passport office in D.C. (since I'll be leaving the country in the next 14 days), will get my passport tomorrow. Woo-hoo...

BTW this was posted before by someone else (and whether was said by an immigration office or not) it is incorrect:

"U.S. does NOT recognize the Dual Citizenship "

Check this out:

http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/cis/cis_1753.html

"A U.S. citizen may acquire foreign citizenship by marriage, or a person naturalized as a U.S. citizen may not lose the citizenship of the country of birth.U.S. law does not mention dual nationality or require a person to choose one citizenship or another. Also, a person who is automatically granted another citizenship does not risk losing U.S. citizenship."

and:

"However, dual nationals owe allegiance to both the United States and the foreign country. They are required to obey the laws of both countries. Either country has the right to enforce its laws, particularly if the person later travels there. Most U.S. citizens, including dual nationals, must use a U.S. passport to enter and leave the United States. Dual nationals may also be required by the foreign country to use its passport to enter and leave that country. Use of the foreign passport does not endanger U.S. citizenship."

LAST BUT NOT LEAST, I think this forum provides a great service to immigrants and should be commended for it.

Hasta la vista everyone!

Hello all, thanks for all your good wishes. We had a good interview.

Got there at 12:00noon for a 1:25pm interview. Sat in car until 12:55pm, then went in. Had to put everything in the box for the x-ray, but there was no problem bringing in cellphone and plenty of documents. Went to the second floor to check in. Was told to go to third floor waiting room. The receptionist even wrote "3rd floor" on my wife's interview letter.

We waited until 1:50pm and a guy came up saying my wife's full name and saying, "Where ARE you???" and asking what in the world we were doing on the third floor. Luckily, the receptionist had written "3rd Floor" on the interview letter so we could prove that it wasn't our fault. He went by the receptionist's office and chewed her out a bit in a polite way.

He let me go in with my wife during the interview, which was good, because he had a few questions for me given the fact that we were applying under Section 319b based on my employment abroad. Then he got into the questions, and my wife was thrown off a bit because he started with the questions from the N-400 regarding arrest and willingness to fight in the army. He did not do them in order, however, which was kind of confusing, because instead of saying "no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no" and then "yes, yes yes yes yes." She had to say, "no, no, no, yes, no, yes yes." It was fine as he restated each question a few times and all was good. Then he did the civics and english test. Six questions. Six right answers. Then he asked for passport photos. So we went across the street and got 4 made, signed two of them and brought them back. He gave my wife a letter that said "Congratulations," and said she should receive an oath letter or get a phone call regarding the oath within a few days. He said that we would be scheduled for the February 21st oath ceremony at 1pm!!!

I still can't believe it, and probably won't until the oath ceremony. Our visa journey might just be coming to a happy close.

Thanks everyone for all of your help. Lots of hugs.

By the way, the officer said we would be coming back on Friday afternoon, the 20th, at 1pm for the oath ceremony. When i asked how we get in the building, he said, "You will get a letter in the next few days or you will get a phone call."

There was a missed call on our home phone when we got home from the interview. It was placed 30 minutes after the interview ended.

Any thoughts? We are going through Atlanta. Was thinking I would call back, but since they didn't leave a message, I'm not sure what I would say if I called back.

We are so happy that she passed, but just confused about the next step.
