LOVE IS PATIENT, LOVE IS KIND. IT DOES NOT ENVY, IT DOES NOT NOT BOAST, IT IS NOT PROUD. IT IS NOT RUDE, IT IS NOT SELF-SEEKING, IT IS NOT EASILY ANGERED, IT KEEPS NO RECORD OF WRONGS. LOVE DOES NOT DELIGHT IN EVIL BUT REJOICES WITH THE TRUTH. IT ALWAYS PROTECTS, ALWAYS TRUST, ALWAYS HOPES, ALWAYS PERSEVERSE. LOVE NEVER FAILS.

Just to clarify in case someone doesn't know this info:

He/She who has applied for their SSN once you have received your EAD. You must know the following:

1. You CAN be employed while you wait for your SSN to arrive in the mail. It takes between 2 to 4 weeks according to SSA.

2. It generally only takes an overnight to generate the SSN in SSA's system, however this can be delayed to a couple of days if DHS hasn't posted your info on the system. So basically, the next business day or 2 days you can go back to the same SSA Office and request for a printed certification of your SSN. The same day I got the printed certification, I went for job hunting. The 2-4 weeks wait is only for the paper/card copy of the SSN.

Just call the SSA hotline: BEWARE; you'll have to wait at least 15 mins on the phone before you get assisted.

That article explains the SSA the Delays.

Don't let the choices chose you, chose the choices that you want.

Yes, if you have proof of authorization to work to satisfy the I-9, you can work while you SSN application is being processed. Once the SSN application has been cleared to assign the SSN the card normally arrives in the mail within 2 weeks.

2. It generally only takes an overnight to generate the SSN in SSA's system, however this can be delayed to a couple of days if DHS hasn't posted your info on the system. Yes, once the SSN application has been cleared to assign the SSN, you can go into any SSA office to obtain the SSN and ask for an SSN Verification Printout. The DHS verification has no affect on this, since that must be done before the application can be cleared. The status verification is what slows up the process. If you are lucky it is done while you are at the office. If they can't you are looking at a few more weeks to maybe even months.

Just call the SSA hotline: BEWARE; you'll have to wait at least 15 mins on the phone before you get assisted.

For what? You can't be told your SSN over the phone. Wait times depend on when you call. Phones are open from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Calling early or late gives you a better chance of not having a long wait time.
