Hey!

Is it recommendable that my wife processes her name change prior to the AOS-application? Perhaps that would be wise to do in regards of her signing the affadavit etc.

Thanks for replies!!

Are you talking about changing her maiden name to married?

She does NOT need to officially change her name. If you are married, she can begin using your last name right away without doing anything. The marriage certificate acts as "proof" of her name change. It does not need to say it on the marriage certificate (most states don't put new name). The certificate itself is enough.

We filled out the paperwork keeping my old last name on it since it would be too soon before my SSN card was changed. In fact, I'm not legally changing it until Benny gets the documentation required to get his SSN. All in one trip makes sense to me.
