Why don't you ask your spouse or anyone abroad what they think of the Constitution?

I wouldn't, and see no reason to. And she wouldn't be (and hasn't ever been) asserting to me anything about our Constitution anyways.

No one is like wow that is amazing. The parliamentary system is better and that is reality. Hence why most other developed countries use it. Have a look at who else uses the presidential system. Third world countries. I am not saying you guys should throw it out but it certainly needs to be modernized to reflect 2008. To reflect the world we live in. Something the Parliamentary system does very well. Like closing the anchor baby loophole.

Actually, this system works just fine. It's the people who make the system suck, not the system itself.

It is called international perception. Whether you like it or not you guys are part of an international community. What do you think movies like "W" are doing for America's reputation? Do you think the average Joe abroad knows the difference between republicans, democrats, liberals, conservatives and so forth . Heck no. To them you are all American. So when one fucks up it is like the entire country fucks up. Constantly belittling and attacking all of your leaders does not increase a nations credibility. Same with dividing and tearing the country up with your north / south, blue / red, religious / atheist, black / white, white guilt / racist trenches. In the end you guys lose. As America's reputation goes down the toilet so does your wealth and living standards. All of these things are tied together.

I thought liberals knew better than anyone that there is no winner in a war and stood against war. Yet you guys seem to be in heart of every single domestic battle.

Attacking our own leader, especially when he's wrong puts credibility locally, which will increase credibility abroad as people recognize those who are above being brainwashed, and those who are jingoist sycophants and feel they need to fawn at whoever is the leader. There's no way America jumping on the Bullshit bandwagon would have done a goddamn thing for credibility. It would have made the citizens look like further idiots. The problem that was never solved by the Civil War is there are some who want to prevent this country from becoming smarter and more progressive. Some are well too entrenched in this 18th century philosophy of government, beliefs, and imposition of beliefs, which doesn't fly anymore.

It's very clear Republicans today want to tear down what was FDR's honest government policies. In essence, creating people who distrust the government. Of course, people keep electing people who are tearing apart their own government, so we get what we deserve. The Constitution can't protect against citizen stupidity. No document can.

Your blaming Hollywood is obvious as day that it's a personal thing you have against it. The simple philosophy of abortions, or gay marriages, or practically anything that bothers you, is.. if you don't like it, don't do it, don't have one, don't be a part of it. That you have a choice in. Reducing the choices of others is not an option in this country.

Actually, this system works just fine. It's the people who make the system suck, not the system itself.

The system has failed in most countries that have implemented it, with the exception of the US. Have a look at which countries still use the presidential system. Third world Nations. Now look at who uses the parliamentary system. Now while you are at it, look at which countries have the highest standard if living and what it actually means.

After the civil war ended, Lincoln was determined to not punish the South but rather integrate them back in. Once he was assassinated this changed. The resentment is clearly built up from then. The people in the video posted in an earlier thread are a prime example of pushing people aside rather than educating them and integrating them into society. The same thing happened when segregation ended. The only difference is that they are white so they are ridiculed. Whereas if they were black their views would not have been an issue.

FDR prolonged the depression with his policies.

People like yourself have a knack for discrediting other countries abroad who not only have a stellar reputation on rights but, like it or not, are actually doing things much much better than the US. I know you will ignore this because it is the American thing to do. Hence why nothing changes. The American mentality is you ain't telling me what to do. Much like the country laughed at Deming who built up Japan. Who is laughing now..

Hatred prevention: Racism for example is illegal in Australia. Do you think this is a negative or that it restricts freedom? This could never happen here because of various amendments protecting it.

Vandalism protection: The laws are also dynamic there. For example, they had a huge problem with kids tagging up trains. So they enacted a law stating anyone found carrying spray cans on "public" transport is automatically guilty and fined. The police are permitted to perform random checks. Whereas once again, in the good old US of A, this would never happen.

Drink driving prevention: the police are allowed to carry out random breath tests to prevent drinking driving deaths. Once again this goes against various amendments.

Homicides: DC tried setting up road block in their Baghdad / Sudan equivalent neighborhoods and was sued the the ACLU. Apparently violating rights. Yet this measure would be common sense in a neighborhood abroad with such a huge problem with homicides.

Preventing youth deaths: Research found that the more young adults in a car, they more they are likely to kill themselves or others. So they enacted a law of only one passenger after 10pm for anyone driving under 21. Try that here, wrong! once again goes against an amendment.

Separation of Church and State: This law is also in Australia but solely limited to the government not favoring any one religion over another. To the contrary, the government actively promotes diversity and financially contributes to community projects. So if a Muslim, Christian, Buddhist community wants to build something, the government will financially assist them. If it is Christmas, Hanukkah, Ramadan etc, the government will celebrate with them. As will schools with their students. Also know as diversity, tolerance and building community spirit. Try that here, Wrong! Apparently prohibited by the constitution.

These are just a few points on the top of my head. There are many many many more...

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

This "education" ####### has been tried. People who are so concerned about gays are not only usually adults, and older adults, but are more interested in amending this "education" to fit their views. So obviously it doesn't need to be treated lightly as you suggest. It needs a complete foot up the rear.

Actually, advise is nice for obvious things like what the President is doing that directly affects other countries, like wars.

However, it's clear you can't even keep up on a debate regarding the Constitution, you obviously had no fvcking clue what I was talking about regarding the NSA-AT&T case, or the Downing Street Memo, you went off on some overly simplistic, yet off-topic rant. So yeah, this is exactly why I won't listen to some foreigner tell me about the Constitution. Simply put, if you don't even know about the Constitution, yet you want to suggest other countries' method of doing things is better, you're going to be labeled as "talking out of your a$$", rightfully, and dismissed.

Notice how you're going on and on about Australia, and I don't care to debate it with you because, obviously, this is not Australia. And I don't know enough about their government, nor do I give a sh!t enough, to bother. I know about this one, and ways we can improve it, and indeed the current system works fine, but won't if the people won't let it. This latter part goes for any form of government. You can call it a Democracy, or a Monarchy, or a JesusChristocracy, or a Thumbuptheassocracy. If the people don't care, they don't care, and it won't work. So dismantling our Constitution and government isn't an option. If you don't like this system of government, or the Constitution, it isn't going to change, and you're best off going back to Australia.
