Skip that AOS and just file to become a USC?

I read this from someone's post.

Someone said

"If you been married for 3 years, I would skip that AOS and just file to become a USC."

Is this accurate?

I wasn't aware that there are ways to skip AOS.

The only way that would work is IF AOS was APPROVED. If approved pending name check, the date of approval tends to be the date the name-check clears.

In order to file N-400 you need to have a green-card, this requires approval of AOS.

Unfortunately, you cannot apply N-400 Citizenship through naturalization application until you have been a resident with an APPROVED green card for 3 years (if GC received through marriage and you have been continuously married for the same petitioner for those 3 years) or 5 years.

Time spent during pending application due to name-check or other reason does not count time as a resident towards citizenship. The date that you were granted permanent resident status is on your green card.
