We both flew with BMI this year to Chicago and I have to say it was a lot better than I expected! The plane seemed to have plenty of room, the seats were comfortable and the food was also not bad. The flight attendants were very polite and they gave us lots of drinks. It terms of bad things, well the only bad part of the flight was the in-flight entertaintment which is not quite as good as some others I have used, however in my opinion this does not make a flight good any way! I would definitely recommend them and fly with them again.

I flew BMI to Manchester last year & was impressed with them-very friendly staff (mostly British). Other than that I would say they are on par with US Air or Delta.

For the flight over I got bumped up to first class & that was a great experience. Super great service, gourmet food (the chef came out & took my order personally) & the seat was very roomy & fully adjustable. Wish I could fly like that every time!

I flown 14 times to Usa and used several different airlines, i personally found that BMI were the best company for customer service and comfort aboard the plane, good menu choice just great all round.

I tend to book my flights based on whichever airline is offering the cheapest flight at the time i have used Virgin atlantic, USairways, Continental, United, and American airlines. British Midlands so far were the best.

I haven't flown trans-atlantic with them, but I did take a short flight from London to Paris and I wasn't dissapointed nor impressed. But I can't really compare a 75 minute flight to an 8 hour flight can I? ;)

I LOVE LOVE LOVE BMI. This year I flew over with BA and I felt that, in terms of customer service, BMI was better.....I know on a whole BA is better and world class, but from my personal experience, I could not fault BMI.

I agree with the in flight entertainment.....its not the best as it does not have the on demand function, but theres still a great variety of entertainment to choose from.

OH- and another thing which I loved about BMI.....The control pad for the inflight entertainment flips over to be a........SUPER NINTENDO HANDSET.......I had so much fun......I literally played Super Mario for about 5 hours on my flight to Chicago......that took be back to my high school days :P

This is interesting. the only thing I dont like about BMI is don't they only fly to specific airports? just asking as I couldn't see BWI on there list.

But reading the post above that BMI was preferred over BA makes me very interested to fly with them, I for one loved BA is was comfy, so much leg room they served tea and edible food and every chair had its own personal GPS/television system.

What kind of food do they serve? thats probably my most important thing, I like it edible

yeah i think i have only been able to fly to Chicago with Bmi, we were handed menus as we boarded the plane so we knew what the choice was before hand seem to remember having sausage an mash which was quite nice and not as cardboard tasting as some can be.

Whereas US airways is usually beef or chicken yawn.

i havent flown with BA to the USA so i cant comment on that one.

I think the only flight from Chicago is to Manchester...I don't recall any London flights. I typically take Aer Lingus when flying over (we fly into Dublin and then take a Ryan Air flight to Edinburgh).

Really the only reason I haven't taken BMI transatlantic is that their Chicago flights are typically more expensive than their competitors.

I do like the nifty hats the female flight attendants get to wear!

I'm actually flying BMI in December to LHR from Chicago :) And this is a great resource, because I was curious about their service. Looks like I made the right call!

They are a good airline but be careful because they code share and you might not be flying on a BMi plane. I did LHR = IAD last month and the plane turned out to be United I think (either that or US, my memory sucks) and there seating configuration was 2-5-2. Which is pretty crappy if you are travelling alone as nobody wants that middle seat and it's so great getting wedged in between two couples you don't know for 8 hours!! lol. Apart from that the attendants were good, the food ok and the entertainment mildy entertaining.

BTW most airlines only fly to "specific airports", that's how we know where we're going when we get on. Now a request stop airline that'd be interesting, lol. Hands up who wants to go to................

.......Seattle it is then.
