My husband said that we should do what we had planned: wait 3 weeks and then start calling the SSA every week.

Don't call, go into the office, unless the person that waited on you gave your their number to personally call them. If you call the SSA 800 number you will get a bunch of BS and if you call the local office general public number you probably will never get through.

They gave us a personal number so we can talk directly with the woman who was in charge of my case.

Just a small update...

Last Friday I called the SSA since they had told me to call them three weeks after my visit there. They said that I'd better go to the USCIS office and ask them to replace my I-94.

So I made an Infopass and went there this morning. The lady told me that in her system, my I-94 number was correct, linked to my name, but that the type of visa was wrong (B1 instead of K1). She said that I could fill out a form to have it changed but that it could take a very long time. So instead, she suggested that I file for my Adjustment of Status as soon as possible, and then when I receive my EAD, I go back to the social security office to get my number. She said that with the EAD there won't be any problem.

So that's what I am going to do. Bad thing is that I can't get a driver license until I have my SSN...

Holy #######.

Does this mean that the Immigration Office typed B-1 instead of K-1 during POE.

Someone wasn't doing this job at that time.

Can't believe these things can happen.

SSN tells you that the info is correct, yet USCIS tells you that the information is correct except the Visa Type.

This sounds pretty crazy, and a lot of time and effort will be wasted on getting this fixed.

Sorry to hear about this situation. Hope it gets resolved. Unbelivable!!! :o

yes, they must have messed up at the POE...

and one correction on what you said: SSN said it was INcorrect, while USCIS says correct except the visa type.

I feel like we wasted almost a month, since I could have sent the AOS paperwork a long time ago... but we can't really do anything to change this at that point.

Sorry to hear that they did a mistake.

Good luck for the AOS, SSN, and the driving licence.

Another update, the problem solved itself. I received a letter 1 week ago from SSN saying that I would receive my social security card soon, and then 2 days ago I did receive it. I did worry for nothing, they were able to figure it out without any problem.
