AP received today

Today Natasha was very excited to receive a letter from the USCIS, then a little disappointed to see that it was 'only' the AP document. On Sunday, she had spoken with Tanya on the phone (Tanya of 'Bill and Tanya', aka NavarreMan) and learned that she had received her EAD the day before. Since Bill put his docs in about a week before we did, I'm hopeful we'll receive EAD this week. This will make Natasha VERY happy!

My wife got the AP before the EAD too. I think the EAD came a week or so later. Got the initial PR card about a month after that.

Never used the AP, it was a waste of money.

Wife is technically allowed to apply for citizenship today (been married exactly 3 years), but we'll drop it in the mail tomorrow just to be on the safe side (:

Just a note. After looking over our folder...

Applied for AOS, EAD and AP all on the same day.

EAD and AP were approved on the same day, but it took the EAD a couple of days longer to arrive for some reason. Probably because they had to produce the EAD card.

AOS notice of interview was sent out a couple of days after the EAD card and the AOS interview itself was was about 2 months after EAD was approved.

Wife is technically allowed to apply for citizenship today (been married exactly 3 years), but we'll drop it in the mail tomorrow just to be on the safe side (:

Before you waste $675 in filing fees, it has to be both 3 years since she had her green card and not just 3 years of marriage. And of course you can apply 90 days before that three year anniversary.

We are in the same boat. We never used the AP or the EAD but at least they are free now so it was not a waste of money.

For some reason I thought your were a K1 since you got married in Hawaii. In such a case you would have been married a whole lot longer then you were a resident. Because the green card is issued many months after the marriage. And it's 3 years from the date of issuance on the card. Edited September 3, 2008 by Satellite

Are they still doing the $1/acre homestead stuff up there? Tax free too, right?

I checked into that a few years back and found a real nice piece of property 150 wooded acres, streams, etc..... no road access. No electric. No water. No NOTHING! Is that still the "norm" for homesteading? That would be cool once I'm a little older and ready to retire but I just can't swing the money of a private plane right now. Bush piloting is just not in the near future.

Someday though, I hope. I've gotta kill a bear before I die. I was thinking it may be in the Russian Far East, but it may turn out being in Alaska on my own property, who knows.

At least we have a VP candidate that knows how to field-dress a moose. (Thanks Fred! I'm glad he covered his six because if he would've left it like that I would been a TR bloggin SOB for the next two weeks. Like we'll ever have another Executive dedicated to outdoors like TR. Gimme a break. ANWR, anyone?)

Uh, no, and no. No free land, and I pay a metric shitload in property taxes.

Uh...no, I wouldn't say that's normal in general - but it might be normal for people who want to live in the middle of nowhere.
