Thanks Garu for that link. I found out I have two senators and 1 representative. Would it create confusion if I sent details of my case and asked help from both of the senators? Should I choose just one to ask for help?

Hi, I am a January K3 filer and still waiting for approvals. I want to contact my congress person to maybe try to speed things up.

Can someone tell me how to find out who my congress person is? And then how I can contact him / her? I live in Texas. Thanks!

Here is a link to find your Senators and Congress person. Just enter your address and it will give you their names and telephone numbers.

Good luck.

do one at a time...dont send it all at once...wait and see what happens with congressman's inquiry...if nothing works for u, then try the senators a few days later, if that doesnt work, try the second senator a few more days later.

what do u mean by providing access?

when u ask ur congressperson/senator to get an inquiry done on ur behalf, u will have to provide them with ur information like USCIS receipt number, ur name, ur SSN and things like that to make sure they are looking at the correct file.

When filling out the privacy release form, it says the following:

I hereby authorize the office of SENATOR ..... to request on my behalf, pertinent to the Freedom of Information and Privacy Act of 1974, access to information concerning me in the files of the Department of United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). In addition, the office of SENATOR .... is also authorized to see any materials that may be disclosed pertinent to that request.

The underlined part is blank in the form where we have to specify which department we are allowing the senator access to, Writing USCIS is OK here or should I write something else?

I disagree with contacting only one at a time. I will guess that there is a 90% chance that they tell you "there is nothing we can do at this point", AFTER you've gotten your hopes up, waited for days after faxing them the evidence you probably already sent in, all so they can drop the bomb on you. So just send it to them ALL at once, DONT tell them that you have contacted another political party, and if they find out, just say "I'm sorry but i had waited for about 3-5 business days after repsonding to you and you made no effor to contact me so i contacted someone else, please forgive me for confiding in my OWN elected official to NOT let me down."

Diaz-Balart, Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, Sen. Bill Nelson, Sen. Mel Martinez, all political figures of FLORIDA, (mind you Florida is not a little back country hill billy state no one cares about) and they all 3 at different times responded with "there is nothing we can do at this point", "we contacted our congressional liason but she says that your case is being processed as scheduled", "the reasons you noted were not severe enough".

It's all lies... You need to be ANGELINA JOLIE to get a favor done by a political giant. Understand? You must be rich in order to have your civil right to pursuit of happiness (family reunity) respected and acknowledged.

I just feel that if u contact 3 people all at once, it will create a big mess at the cogressional inquiry department at USCIS..so u may just end up getting one answer to all three (congressperson and two senators) inquiries..on the other hand if u do it three times it may be a little different and it may show USCIS that u r not there to take their ####### and do something about it with a higher level of authority....this is just my thought...u r free to make ur own choice...but if i were u, this is what i would have done...good luck in whatever u decide..

Thanks.

I already sent an email to my congress person, Michael McCaul. His website didn't have a format of the letter we should write, or a privacy waiver form.

I suppose now we should write him another letter including the privacy waiver form and post this. Hopefully that will help.

CarolWygland, a congress person is a member of the US house of representatives. Every area has one to represent it. People have contacted their representatives to ask USCIS about their cases, sometimes it helps if the situation deserves it.

If you've been waiting for a long time, you should look up yours from that link above.

https://forms.house.gov/wyr/welcome.shtml

I faxed mine today(feeling too impatient for snail mail).

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

Also my case is in Vermont. California was going very fast.

wow! i submitted my I 129F on march 2008 and got approved in may..i guess its a case to case basis..hang in there! it will come soon! goodluck!

Congats on the fast approval.

California cases are a different animal it seems. A few people have gotten approvals within weeks or a couple months through cali. Vermont, not so much.

Im still hopeful. Mailing a letter to the congressman just made feel like I had a tiny little bit of control over this situation lol

Ok, i see what you're saying.. to maybe contact them in a "wave" or a "series" so that there is always someone on USCIS's neck... I like it... i like it alot. Thats a very interesting approach.

Yeah trying the 'wave' method. Also u can learn new things on the way that u might have left out while contacting the first person, so you can put them in when contacting the second one.
