Berta might move in with me. She currently lives in Spain. She is 5 1/2 years old and hates other cats plus she enjoys a quiet household.

I spoke to the animal shelter lady in Spain today and she said that I sound like I have a good home for Berta. She'll send one of her German colleagues to check me and my flat and then Berta will go on a plane ride to come and live with me. Fingers crossed!

Oooooh gato gallego - aka Spanish kitty...hehehe. How very cool - I hope it all works out.

I want to get a cat and call it "Che Kitty".

It came from one of the first times that my MIL was visiting from Argentina right before my hubby and I got married. On New Year's Eve, I was cooking dinner and I left the front door of our townhome open just to let some cool air in. Well, a neighbor's kitty walked into our front door and he starts checking out the place...my MIL said, "Che!!! Kitty!!!" The cat jumped like 3 feet in the air and ran out of the house. So, from that day forward, I always called that cat Che Kitty. He's since moved on, but I now want my own.

Sister, if someone screamed "Che" at me out of the blue, I would also freak out

LOL tell me about it. I've become very Argentine in my use of the word "che". Seems like no matter what, I use it all the time now with my husband. An Argentine friend of our's (who now lives in the US), said her proudest moment as the mother of an American-born baby, was the day when her two-year old had been in BsAs for the whole winter, and started saying "Che" when she was upset or wanted to get someone's attention. She said her heart melted - she was like "Thank God this child at least has a little piece of me in her."
