Big problem in I 864A!

Hi guys!

We sent expidition to NVC regarding getting fast interview date in islamabad US embassy.

They have approved our expidition.

Now here is big problem my wife is sick she doesnot work and she lives with her mother at the moment.

Mother in law is agree to fill I 864 A with her but she is saying that she wont sign on PART 3 Item #16.

Coz it has all the responsibilities which she will have to bear.

She says that she will bear food,utility bills,and will give us her home.

but she wont pay us for our medical in case of an emergency thats y she wont sign on that part.

She says that she will take extra sheets and she will explain that she will pay for all above things,but wont pay for medical and then she will sign on that sheet.

Guys as u know now that our case is at US embassy in islamabad at the moment which has approved.

My question is that will the embassy accept that I 864A?

Plz give me ur valuable suggestions i m really very worry abt this..

She needs to sign that part. Especially that part otherwise the form would be useless. It is a contract between the sponsor and the household member (mother-in-law), which serves as proof that the beneficiary won't be a public burden. She doesn't really need to provide anything for you guys unless you use that contract against her and demand her to do so. You should assure her that you just need it to satisfy above the 125% poverty level. You might just wanna make a contract between yourselves that she won't pay for your emergency medical needs.

I am really sorry to hear about your troubles, but unfortunately, with the I-864, it's all or nothing. You can't pick and choose what you agree too.

And, actually it's a contract between her and the government. The beneficiary can't sue for support or force the sponsor to pay for their debts. She would only be responsible for paying back the govt for Federal means-tested public benefits that were given to the immigrant. Federal means-tested public benefits include Food Stamps, Medicaid, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), and the State Child Health Insurance Program (CHIP). States and local jurisdictions may also designate certain programs as means-tested public benefits. Medicaid is probably the concern for the sponsor here as health care costs are very expensive in this country.

You will have to try to convince your Mother In-Law or try to find another co-sponsor.

[My question is still there! will the embassy accept that I 864A?

Can we get any relaxation while mother in law will take another sheet and write and will sign on that.

Plz i need the answer..

The answer is NO.

They need a sponsor who can support the applicant by all means.
