Attended our local center for fingerprinting at 12 noon today. Other than one other guy in the waiting room, I was the only other person which was nice. The female security guard at the door made the comment that she really liked my sandals and asked me where I got them...lol.

I think I waited all of 5 minutes before getting called into the fingerprinting room. I have always had a problem with getting fingerprinted in the past. It seems the techs can't seem to get a proper print from several of my fingers. One of the techs said they always found they had a problem with fingerprinting Canadians and they don't know why. They never had the same problem with those from Mexico. I joked that it must be due to snow, ice, extreme cold temperatures in the winter that must have had some kind of effect on our fingers...lol. Of course it would be my luck to have a small raised bump underneath the skin of my one baby finger. I have had a problem with this same bump for years - coming and going. So of course it had to appear now. It shows now as a small white spot on my finger on the computer. The tech said hopefully the FBI will compare these prints with those that I had done a few years back. What else could I do short of cutting out that bump and then waiting for it to possibly heal properly.

As I was leaving the room, the tech announced out loud, "See you next year!" I just laughed. I think he's shocked that I'm still hanging around after 6 years and assumed I would have been a done deal long before now.

Ok what I found odd was this. The tech told me that the delay in having me come in for the fingerprinting was due to the zip code change that the town I came from had changed two years ago or else I would have been in a lot faster and he apologized for it. I don't understand this as mail still gets delivered to my home whether I've used the old zip code or the new. I should have asked but didn't. He then told me that if the fingerprints came through ok I wouldn't have to wait much longer to get in for the interview/testing. My son turns 18 at the end of January so I'm hoping this is all completed before then.

Will your son get his citizenship too?

He is 17 now so as long as it comes through before he turns 18 at the end of January, he will become one automatically.
