How hard is it really to get the K1 in Bogota?

Hi! I have heard many stories of angry and hurt fiancees walking out of the embassy, K1 Visa refused. I have the following going for me:

1) I visited her 8 times in Colombia to visit her in 2008. I live near Boston in the US.

2) Gads of photos of us and her family, and even one of my daughter with us in Colombia.

3) Pages and pages of receipts from Skype for phone calls. My phone bill is $150.00 a month, even though some of our talk is computer to computer and free.

4) I know her family and their names, what they do for a living, their children, etc.

5) Lots of receipts for my trips

6) No prior K1 petitions

7) Fluency in Spanish (no language barrier) - Lived in Mexico and Spain years ago

8) I brought my daughter to meet her in May 2008

9) Yes, we are in love. Can't stand to be without her.

10) Our paperwork went through with no RFE's.

11) In 2008 the sole reasons I traveled to Colombia was to see her. I have been with her in 3 Major Colombian cities.

12) She worked for the government at a clinic for retired military personnel.

Assuming we bring the right papers, does this look like a good chance for success given the embassy in Bogota?

Very persuasive! Will she be able to answer some pointed questions about your personal life and background when she is interviewed? She is the one being interviewed, not you.

I have never heard of an immigrant visa petition being denied at the US embassy in Bogotá. Delayed yes, but never denied. They may not approve a visa right away either because the beneficiary didn't answer their questions correctly, or missed some important info, or because the case was too fishy to begin with and they asked for either more evidence or for the petitioner to go to a second interview. I only saw a K3 visa case from VJ where they had 2 interviews and were still refused a visa, a few weeks later they were approved.

If you have a legit & solid case, and based on what you said on your post you do, then you should be fine. The CO does not interview just the beneficiary, I have seen cases where they only interviewed the petitioner for some reason. So anything goes.

Good luck!

My fiancee only had a 4 minutes interview and her visa was approved. I wasn't even in Bogota with her at the time of her interview. I have only been in Bogota 2 times, and pretty soon it will be my third time to bring my fiancee to the US. So it all depends on how prepared she was, and her confidence in God.
