It probably isn't a virus. Windows can and does break down sometimes - I have it on Vista, sometimes it doesn't start up properly and locks. To do with bugs in the programming. I'm surprised its as stable as it is...

Technical support is a diagnostic procedure, trial and error. What work with kim and russ doesn't necesarrily work with Almaty.

If it is XP, you could try a system restore depending on how it was set up.
