my wife and i visted a local office to day. we scheduled an info pass and learned a few things.

1. the local office(calexico california) does not even receive my wife's file for her i-485 and ead document untill a few days before her schedule interview(march 7)

2. her ead and advance parole would not be approved befor her schedule interview.

( a new proceedure implemented since the day all applications have to be sent to chicago)

3. she can apply for tempary ead if we wait longer than 90 days.

4. march 7 is our 91 day since filing.

5. the uscis agent insisted that the medical exam recieved at jaruez mexico and used at the us embassy, and given to uscis at the el paso port, txs of entry was not valid for aos.

6. i insisted she was incorrect and we could not come to a good conclusion.

7. any body have to get another medical examation, after completing one for the embassy ?

I think your local office is on another planet........

EAD is not decided at local office..... EAD & AP are approved befor interview.... you dont need them after the interview (if approved)

Medical is valid.... but you need to have the Vaccination Supplament done in the states by a Civil Surgeon....

Hope you have better luck at your interview.....

What the F%#K?!!

That is not my understanding of how it works. Like Kezzie says, once you have the GC you dont need AP or EAD. I have been to my local office many times with INFOPASS appointments many times and so far they have been nothing but very helpful. They know me and my hubby there now and the security guards even greet us like old friends, ask how we've been etc!!! :)

Well, all I can say is GOOD LUCK and hope that it all works out for you.

Kate

P.S. I have to have a medical here, just waiting on receiving vaccination records from England. I didnt have one before entering the U.S. though. I thought that medicals taken elsewhere were valid for 1 year. Hope you dont have to pay for another one.

THANKS FOR THE INFO,

they were very insistant on thier postion.

Any new AOS appliciation with requests for ead and advance parole will not receive work perment or the travel documents intill an interview is completed for the aos.

our interveiw is scheduled about 90 days after our initial appliciation.

i guess this is not to long af a period to wait.

I was under the impression that the medical given at the time of the interview was valid for a year.
