if it is white, don't eat it...., flour products like doughnuts, cookies, cakes, pastas, bread, pizza, and even rice. if you must eat white rice, then do small portions and not everyday. artifcial sweeteners are worse than pure sugar. stay away from sodas, and sweet drinks. if you must eat any of these things. then do it only on weekends or certain pre determined days. stick to lean meats and fish with salads veggies, fruit, nuts and exercise. buy a bicycle or kayak. swim, hike, and walk. if you don't eat right and stay active. YOU WILL GET FAT. it worked for me. i lost 70 lbs. but sometimes you just have to get tired of being fat, before you do something about it. there are a lot of advantages to being lean... heath being number one. but its also great for making love too. good luck to everyone and their struggle to stay thin :D:D ron

It's the rice that has put weight on me! I am the husband... I had Ruchie cut our Rice intake by 1/2 in order to get rid of these extra calories. No more buying a 50# sack of Jasmine Rice...

hehehe thats funny... good you like rice.. my hubby seldom eats rice why i cant cook it everyday...

For some reason, I have always loved Rice.... It just don't love me!......

I've been here for 24days now and been losing weight eversince. I'm down to 124lbs and I stand 5"8... underweight so to speak but I'd rather lose weight than gain some :D

It's hard to resist all ths sinful foods in here but I never really had any problems evading fatty foods even when I was in the Philippines. I haven't eaten rice eversince I left Manila but I'm not really a conventional rice eater. My husband and I stuffed ourselves mostly with veggies and fruits and only eat sinful foods as a reward for maintaining our weight. Working out, a little bit of walking, swimming, biking and even cleaning the house also helps a lot

I guess eating moderately is one key to maintain our weight. Just imagine yourselves in a 2pc swimsuit... B) My other goal is to still be "sexy" even if we already have kids...

I gained at least 10 pounds in less than 2 months when I got here because I tried everything and ate whatever my husband fed me. I got scared because I started having problems with breathing properly. So I tried to lose the weight I gained but it didn't work. I still got at least 8 pounds more than my weight when I was in Pinas. But the thing is, I am able to maintain it now. Meaning, I don't gain more and I don't lose weight either. My husband said I look perfect now. Unlike before when I first came here, I was as thin as a rail. I eat rice during lunch and dinner (a cup each time) everyday, I like bread so much (I'm a bread hog), and I eat snacks in between meals. I don't do exercises, just cleaning the house as a way of exercising and yet I am maintaining my ideal weight (my weight now). You want to know the secret??? Eat cereals first thing in the morning. It blocks all the cholesterol and fats that you can get from all the food that you eat the whole day. Been doing that for months now and so far, so good. I've been here more than a year now and I don't worry about gaining weight anymore. The good thing about me is I only eat chocolates once in a blue moon, I don't drink soda and I don't eat chips anymore. After indulging on those sinful foods when I first got here, I finally got the self discipline and they became boring to me. It's kind of hard at first since all these things are just around the house. But the thing is, knowing that I don't have to work so hard just to get a taste of them makes it not so challenging for me. I think if I don't see them here in our kitchen (and bedroom), I'll probably crave for it. It's true too that you gotta have self-discipline. It's ok to have guilty-pleasures, just have a control.

Great Mae, I admire your self-discipline about indulging in food. I have a problem with food because I gain weight so easily and I find it not too easy to lose weight. I really don't want to gain so much weight because I would have a problem with breathing too and I wouldn't feel too good (sexy) about my body :P I really need discipline too, I hope this will not be a big problem because Ryan and I like the kitchen a loooooooooooooooooooot. We both love to cook

I've been here for 9 months now and still same weight( 103 lbs). My husband and I usually eat cereals or oat meal for breakfast . We eat at before 6pm dinner everyday. Maybe it is true that eating before 6pm is good. Aside from that I really like green salads too. If you are not careful in eating out surely u will gain with that big serving. The first time we ate out i tried to finish the food because it was expensive :bonk: now I will give half of it to him ..

Don't go to buffets especially Chinese ones... I always end up eating more than I can handle. The thing is, you want to make sure that you get what you paid for but once you have eaten too much, that's when you will feel the regrets.

Me : "Baby please promise me that we won't gain weight together."

Donny's reply: "Only apart?"

I am still amazed at the serving size of their foods here in the states. I can't do justice with the appetizing food in front of me. Most of the time we end up getting "doggie bag" for what's on my plate LOL. Which by the way was most of what I ordered. We both like going to "All you can eat" restaurants, this is known to Filipinos as "Eat all you can restaurants". See the difference?

When I left PI I was only 104 Ibs. I gained 3 or 4 Ibs since I got here (June 11), which is a lot for me coz most of it is showing on my pouchy belly area LOL.

Well, since you are pregnant, it's ok to indulge, right? Besides, you're eating for two persons.

I wish I have the appetite to eat with "gusto" all of the foods on my plate. The ones that I can say I eat with gusto are salads in "all you can eat restau" and Sizzler's chicken wings, KFC (2 breasts minus the soda, biscuit, mashed potato) and skipper's fish fillet, pop shrimps & fries.

I was 84 lbs. when I get here in the US last june 2007. now I weighed 92 lbs. which I'm happy about, building up a little bit of fats and curves. I ate almost anything and not depriving myself but it comes in moderation. At the end of the day, it's a matter of self discipline.
