Hello... I am new here needing some help/advice/suggestions

I am currently a US permanent resident, and when I went backhome to the Philippines to visit my long time boyfriend we decided to get married at the court. Now that I am back here in US, I am of course thinking ways of how to get him here. I am thinking of applying to be a US citizen by early next year. My question will be should I declare that I got married in the Philippines when I fill out the form for US citizenship? I have a copy of the marriage contract anyways.

How long will it take if I start working on the petition by mid 2009 for him to get here? Some says 2 years, some says it takes longer. I want him to be here so badly, because I love him dearly, but this waiting and petitioning I never had idea of how it works..

Any ideas? and what are the requirements they ask when you petition a husband? My friend said I have to be working to show that I can support him, but I am still in school for Nursing and I go to school full time with the help of my elder brother. I am soo confuse.

I will really appreciate any HELP !

The first thing you need to do is read the guidelines so you can have a better idea of how the process works.

The process for your citizenship can take anywhere from 6 months to over a year depending on where you live and how busy your local office is or how long it will take them to process your petition. You need to say in your petition that you are married because otherwise you'd be lying on your form.

As far as the petition for your husband as a US citizen, it will take approximately 1 year or so. Again, this can also change depending on where you have to file. If you do not work right now, you can find a co-sponsor who will be willing to say that he/she can afford to cover expenses for your husband.
