If I did not work for my petitioner, will I be denied if I apply for Citizenship?

Hi. I am a green card holder who petitioned my wife last 2005. I plan to apply this October for US citizenship in the hope to expedite and upgrade my pending petition for my wife, but I have one concern though, I did not work for my petitioner when I got my green card through employment-based petition. My recruitment agency told me that since I am a fee-based applicant and I already got my green card I can work anywhere I choose to, so they let me go and I went to work for some other company of the same type of business as my petitioner.

Do you know if this will be a ground for denying my citizenship application (i.e., for not working at my petitioner)? If I will be asked by consul why I did not work for my petitioner? Also do you think asking a waiver from my petitioner would make sense?

I really appreciate all your help. Thank you very much. I hope and pray it will all work out for all of us suffering in this US immigration law flaw.

Yes this is true, once USCIS issues a green-card, you are a lawful permanent resident, there is no requirement to work for petitioner, this should not affect naturalization.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

YuAndDan xiè xie ni ;).. you and CherryXS made my day.. I really hope you are right.. do you know anybody who also has a similar situation I do or is there anything written in USCIS that explain this situation?.. do you think I should still seek legal advice just for this matter? I'm trying to avoid it though to save expenses as much as I can.. Thank you again.

Thank you for your reply CherryXS.. my concern however is that I never worked for my petitioner even just for a day.. What did the consul interviewed you when you applied for your naturalization like did he/she asked you anything about your petitioner? Thanks again.
