Yes the I-551 stamp is as good as the card and is good for travel and work....

I read about your troubles with your Green Card. It's amazing how they can screw up and not be held accountable. Oh well, at least we had the card for one day. Put the darn thing back in the mail today. I asked her several times that even though my application indicated female EVERY time I still had to send verification.

Haha, sorry...couldn't help but laugh about that part. Don't you love how you have to spell things out for them? My appologies for the errored card. I'm obviously in the same boat and can very much sympathize! Fingers crossed for you too!

I would just like to announce a big #### YEAH for being informed by my husband that the CORRECT Green Card arrived in the mail just now!!

With a bad, squished photo of me, but ME nontheless!! Woohooo!! 265 days since sending off for the replacement. Never thought it would take this long but I'm glad to have it now. Shoot, I almost thought I was going to have citizenship before the GC!

We'll definitely do the citizenship thing together! Since I had been married for over 2 years when my AOS was approved I already have my 10-year card and won't have to lift conditions, but best of luck to you on that!

PS I would also like to note that I never received a NOA for the I-90 and that any time I received respondance from them it always referring to my I-485.

I had the exact error from the exact service center and from what you said I think we dealt with the exact woman on the telephone who was reading from a script! I tried a two way conversation with her but she just kept reading off her little blip about the process I needed to go through to correct their mistake. So we sent off even more documentation along with duplicated information they already had in order to prove that yes indeed I am a female who married a male USC. Thinking back I wish I would of sent it back to them with a RFE of some sort but I am not in a position to be snooty when they call all the shots.

Finally got word from them. A general letter asking us not to contact them To expect a 90-120 day wait on a replacement card. I am just happy to hear from them at this point.

well, I didn't think i'd be posting on this website again, but my card arrived with a different date of birth and a mistake in my middle name.

I recieved my conditional GC in june- sent everything back in July and called immigration today. The man on the phone told me this could take about 6 months as it is like filing for the first time all over again. He told me that I could get a stamp in my passport which is just as good as having the card and that this is a common problem.

Does not actually having the card affect when i have to resubmit those documents to lift the condition?

so here i am again, and suprised to see a lot of familiar names. If anyone has any suggestions on ideas that might help move this process along, i would love to hear them.

No, your approval date will remain your approval date, even with an error on the card. At least ONE thing they don't take away from you.

Sorry to say there is nothing you can do to speed things up.... so pull up a seat, sit down and relax and before you know it 6 months will have passed and your new card will be here.....

Does anyone know this: in my case where I never received the GC, can I go back to the Indy ASC and get a stamp in my passport? When we were there for the interview in March, the officer said, "Well, I could stamp your pp but if you won't be travelling in the next couple weeks [no] then you might as well wait for the card to arrive."

You can definitely try to. They may or may not ask you for a filed I-90. But I guess it's worth a try if you're up for it.
