I received my case number within a week of my approval. I called the NVC daily until they received my case and assigned a case number. They gave me the case number and informed me that my file had already been sent to the embassy in Rio.

Have you called? If not, give them a call and give them your NOA1 receipt number so that they can reference it.

Since you are filing for a K-1, the NVC does not process your petition. They only enter it into their system, assign a case number, electronically send it to your embassy and then they send the actual file to the embassy. My guess is that your file is already at the embassy.

I didn't realize you had been calling. I'm sorry to hear you're going through this. Have you tried calling the USCIS? Not sure if it will do any good, but maybe you might get someone on the line who is not so worthless. If you aren't able to get a hold of someone who can help you, keep calling back until you do.

It's a shame that the govt operates the way they do. We wait for months for them to pick up our file to process it and when they finally do, it takes them months to just send it in the mail. Once we get the approval, it should be smooth sailing until the interview, but they continue to create grief for many petitioners. I hope you get yours soon. I will pray for you tonight.

..............thankx for the prayers....yes i did call uscis on our 3rd week of approval, all they say is to call nvc, since they already approved it, its not on their hands....they give me the number of nvc...(which i knew it already)...im basing on uscis approval hard copy..."the nvc processing should be complete within 2 to 4 weeks...after recieving the petition from uscis....so now...not sure if nvc have our papers or till in uscis.....confused...
