Hi all. Me and my fiance are looking into a few places for our honeymoon. So far we have narrowed it down to the Great Smoky Mountains and Savannah.

We fancy either Asheville or Gatlinburg, probably a log cabin or downtown Savannah. Can anyone recommend on these places? I looked at the hotels in Savannah and $hit is it expensive. Good hotels seem to be around $200 per night.

Cheers, feedback would be appreciated.

My husband and I honeymooned in Gatlinburg. Had a really nice little cabin with a hot tub on the deck. It was small, but we didn't need anything huge. You and your SO might try doing a search on one of the many travel sites (such as travelocity, expedia) for honeymoon packages in the area you're interested in. You'd be surprised at some of the deals that are out there!

We loved Gatlinburg too, btw...there's the Tennessee Aquarium, and the strip in downtown Gatlinburg (lots of shopping and other attractions). Savannah is also a great place to spend a night or two...rich with history and culture. There's even Tybee Island abt 20 minutes outside Savannah. We live in Georgia so these places are rather close for us. I wish I could tell you one is better than the other, but we absolutely love both places! :D

Ye it's not easy on what to choose. I have heard a few say Gatlinburg and Savannah are great places to go. Savannah would be the nearest to go but as it's our honeymoon, the log cabin sounds better.

Asheville is on our "places to visit" list...Joel wants to see Biltmore House one day, well me too. :)

So you're in Charleston SC? I have an aunt in N. Chas. We're working on getting down there to see her...she's not met my Joel yet. :)

Yeah, Priceline is another good site to check.

I went to Gatlinburg once and we had fun. I think I got really drunk and slept with some wacko. Don't do that on your honeymoon! I remember it being pretty though. Oh wait  I remember now. Ok so this really overweight girl was with us and the car wouldn't make it up the hill from the house we were staying in (super steep gravel hill with no room for getting any speed before going up it). So my mom made her get out of the car and walk up the hill so we would make it up the hill  omg that was so funny.

eta: the car made it up the hill just fine without her in it

I know it's mean but it's so funny because it actually worked. I was actually crying from laughing so hard when I remembered it. My mom is the mean one for even thinking about it.

eta: neil says it's sometimes mean to have skinny people walk up hills too!

Pedro and I have just been to Savannah and it was beautiful. I wish we would have had more time to see sights though - we were only there for a day and I spent the night by myself in a hotel since Pedro had to go back to Charlotte.

I stayed at this really beautiful place called the Marshall House. It was a bit pricey (I paid $240 for a night in one of the balcony rooms), but it was absolutely worth it. Maybe treat yourself to a weekend there and then go to the log cabin to enjoy nature and just one-on-one time.

How long do you plan on going on honeymoon for?
