GLOBE or SMART for ROAMING?

just wanna know what u think or ur experience with this..

im thinkin.. il use globe since im using globe here in the philippines..

like just to maintain my globe number..

but then some says smart is better..

I am using Smart Roaming...i loaded it 100pesos when i left philippines last april and never reloaded it again since then. Globe needs to maintain 100 p or else ur roaming service will be blocked. I sent Shaun Globe roaming sim while i was in the philippines. It so happen that i forgot to load it and after 1 day that the balance went below 100, the connection was severed. My dad is also using Smart roaming in Saudi arabia..it is more than a year now with out reloading and we can still send him messages. I tell my family to text me in my smart number and i reply back to them with my number using CHIKKA. (chikka is free and u can reply with ur phone number). :)

My wife and here friends here in the states still use their SMART accounts with unlocked GSM phones and it works out just fine. I would say that it also depends on what carrier your family primarily uses. For my wife it's smart, but I would presume that globe works just fine also. Oh, you are going to need your family to load minutes into your account.

p.s. With smart, my wife's family can eLoad minutes into her account. My last point of reference with my wife is that glode does not have that feature/function. I'll double check with her and update this post, if I am wrong.

I have to leave my phone (Globe) in the Philippines and now using AT@T with a $39.99/month plan.

My family has a separate ID which is 24hours logged in to yahoo SMS so I just text them thru the computer if I have an important message or they text me using the same. I also call them using a rechargeable calling card( LAYA), same card my husband used to call me when I was still in the Philippines. I talk to them every weekend thru yahoo using the call services which is actually better now so its all free. So far, it is good.

hmmm.. my fam's using globe but then if i need to use smart we'll just buy smart sim for the extra phones at home..

that's the reason why im considering globe for roaming tho peeps say they suck..

My wife just told me that you family can eload your Glode account. However, I know that Smart works out well because that's what my wife, her friends, and family back in the Phil uses. Good luck...

I use Smart and T-mobile, I also have a dual sim cell phone that has both sims activated at the same time so I dont need to carry 2 phones.

For me GLOBE is the best envy!!!

Promos of globe here in Philippines are can be used for roaming numbers. You just maintain a P100 peso balance in ur account. and if that roam number is got off u can ask ur family member to go to globe center and let ur number be activated on roaming service again and load again, thats how fast.

Yup, I only tell them to load my smart roaming for 30 pesos to keep it running. But I used my At&t INT'LTEXTMSGS to send text to my family.

HI, we use SMART and it works real good for us. While I was still in the Philippines I bought a phone with a international roaming sim chip, I can only text Geraldyn from the US because it is only a texting sim, but it only cost's 1php per text. I also text from my pc for free through yahoo messenger, if I call her it does not cost her anything using yahoo it just costs me. Either way, texting with the phone or pc still costs her to text me back. I can load her phone in the Philippines or my phone with the sim from smart that I bought in the Philippines that I now have here. All you have to do is go to You can load SMART or GLOBE in a few minutes on your pc...just set up an account and use your credit card. I think $11.09 you can send a 460php load, there are different size loads to choose from the one I mentioned is the biggest for SMART. It is the best way we have found.
