LOTO i need to email NVC about me flying to india to attend the interview with my husband, when should i email them? after they receive my casE?

and also, I need to email them confirming my interview date with them.. when should i do that? after receiving mail from NVC or after knowing that chennai received our casE?

im kind of confused ?

Hyd, you need to wait couple of days to forward the case to Chennai. Then you can email to Chennai consulate for the interview status since you're not in official July list.

You will not be able to enter inside the Consulate on interview date, though you are citizen. You'll have to wait outside. I think I am not wrong. If they want to ask you some questions, they may call you inside.

ok thanks i wil wait for the case to be forwarded .. at this point im so anxious to get everything done..i think i need to calm down

and ya if u email chennai u r allowed to go in, they wil mail you back.. and u show that email tothem when entering..

Ok Guys...I know alot of this stuff can embassy/country specific, but we have come this far together, so here goes

I am told that Packet III & IV are together for Peruvian Immigrants. Basically the panel physician information, vacination requirements, and appointment letter.

My wife has called today to set her medical up, we had already decided one (Sandro Corigliano) of the 3 panel doctors available. I did some research on the VJ forums, and this doctor seemd to be the one that offered the least amount of problem and expense. Some doctors try to take advantage of the vacination requirements by over charging.

Since our interview is set for July 3rd, she trying for a June 26th or 27th medical exam. She already has her vacination records, but I am sure she will need additional vacinations or boosters that are administered at the same time as her medical exam. So that will be done and she will have her medical exam documentation by June 30th or July 1st, depending on the administrative process.

I had already compiled all the supporting documents and evidense that she may need at the interview. I sent it last week anticipating that the interview would be coming soon so she should receive it this week. It is well organized in a large 4" binder. Plenty of picture, phone records, e-mails, IM's, phone cards, money transfers, as well as copies of all the forms we have submitted to both USCIS and NVC. I think we hve that covered. I will be forwading her the interview questions from 'Loto' - thanks again!

Becasue our interview is the day prior to a national holiday and then the weekend, I allowed some extra time to pick-up her passport with the visa stamp. Everyone in Peru is required to use the DHL service. After your interview and notice of the visa being approved she has to go and pay the fee. She has the option to have it delivered, which takes 2 week. Or she can pick it up, which takes two days. So I am figuring she should have it by July 8th or the 9th at the latest.

Here is the really scary part. I already booked her flight from Lima to San Francisco for July 10th. I think we are in good shape though, I have not heard of anyone from Peru having troubles after the interview. With the rising price of transportation, waiting to book the flight is just not an option, and we want to be together for her B-Day on July 19th.

One thing I considered when booking her travel is the POE. I am not going to be traveling with her, so I wanted her POE to be in the city where I am, so in the event there are any issues, I will physically be in the same place to help resolve any issues. There are less expensive flights, but the POE would be on the other side of the country...so this is how I weighed my decision.

I know this is long, but I think this answers all the questions so far, if I missed something...please someone let me know

wow Arequipa4us, this is a long story :star::star::star: First of all my advance, happy birthday wishes to her

Regarding the ticket, I did the same too. Ticket prices are going up due to fuel surcharges and July is a peak season not to get the ticket at the best price for the last minute. So, I did a gamble over there. If for any reason, she doesn't get her passport by July 10th (for us courier is the only option), we will have to postpone the ticket for couple of days, by paying additional charges  July 4th is U.S independence day holiday, then weekends (Sat and Sun) are coming. So, technically, consulate will courier it on Monday July 7th (if there are no further complications), so we have 4 business days to get the passport. Also, there are only 2 CR1 interview on July 3rd at Chennai, compared to 5 to 10 every day!

Regarding medical, if the beneficiary has anti-bodies (as per my father-in-law) in the blood test done by him, he'll give only boosters and make the medical report. This will cut down the time and the cost considerably. However, for TB, U.S approved physician might ask the applicant to come down next day to check the swelling.

I encourage everybody to add your own findings in the interview questions :star::star::star:

Good luck to all

Loto

Q. What is ‘Counter Passport Collection’?

It is a facility whereby you can collect your passport prior to it being couriered to you. Passports will be handed over across the counter ONLY at the VFS application centre in the city where you were interviewed. Please refer to the details and timings for collection in the 4 centres in India:

This is GREAT input, guys!

HYD - My wife called and she has not heard anything about needing to wait weeks between varicella shots (she has no vaccination records and she told the Dr. this) - so it's still a little different than your husband's experience ... I was telling her myself that, provided she has had the appropriate childhood vaccinations, they can just check titers (as loto was mentioning) and see if there is a need for the vaccination ... She will call again and speak to different panel docs to see if anyone advises her to start getting her shots now ... I'll keep you guys posted ...

As for the flight - I have to find out through Continental airlines and/or a travel agent if I can book a ticket for somewhere around the 13th or 14th of July but just pay a small amount for now (with the balance due July 9th, after her interview) ...

Regarding the "brown envelope" - I'll notify Neetu that she is not supposed to open that, but I'm sure they'll tell her at the consulate ... I wasn't sure if that was only for K3 people or for CR-1 people also ... I guess it's for both :)

Passport collection - although someone said that it's only possible in Mumbai for India, I think the link above points out a place to pick it up for all 4 interview centers ... which means with the interview on the 9th, Neetu could have the passport in her hand on the 10th!

With an interview on a Wednesday, would you book for the following Monday for the ticket? I think couriers are in action on Saturday - so that would be 4 business days after the interview ...

More questions and input as it comes to me lol ...

NEETU IS HERE!

After calling docs in India and digging around through the CDC site I've found out that only the first shot is "required" of any vaccination series ... the second is 'recommended' if needed - but in talking to the Dr's they have never given more than one and it "has never been an issue" in the words of the doc my wife is planning on seeing ... Also, as we know, the laundry list of vaccinations is just everything they can think of - but the reality for an adult only requires a handful of shots ...

SOOOO - In short, the process takes one day and the next day report is ready for pick-up!

I hope that my paranoia (thanks a LOT, hyd ... LOL :P) resulted in enough helpful information for others to be saved from their own share of being scared lol ...
