Glad to hear things went well Sarah. You learn more about each other each time you face an event like this... just keep talking!

A great marriage is not when the "perfect couple" comes together.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.

Hi again Sarah,

What great news - I'm really happy for you both. Nasty as the experience was at the time, I'm willing to bet that it was worth it in the end - it sounds as though you both feel tired but happier that you've both cleared the air about so many things in one fell swoop. You probably understand each other much more now than many couples that claim never to argue at all. I wonder ... if a couple never argues at all, not even a little bit, does that mean they don't actually care all that much?

Anyway - this row just goes to prove that you two do care! :D(F)

Yippee, there's a get together in the offing!

All the best to you both,

Sheila

All the best,

Sheila

Interesting observation, Shiela. I can speak from firsthand experience on that subject. My ex was extrmely non-confrontational but a lot of that had to do with his 'dysfunctional family' upbringing. His way to keep the peace was to basically agree to everything, and in the end, I was accused of being too controlling because of it. It's not that we didn't care... we just deluded ourselves by thinking that avoidance was a solution. Eventually, when 'issues' started to come up, the marriage fell apart because we didn't know how to deal with things, and actually, didn't care enough any more to try.

That always made me wonder, and think I was doing something wrong, when I would hear other couples say they NEVER had arguments and the NEVER fought. I always found that so hard to believe! To me, arguments, as long as they don't get out of hand, are healthy. It is impossible for two people to agree on EVERYTHING!!! If people don't vent, they will eventually explode! IMO, it is better to let it out in small, controlled, doses... then one large uncontrolled rage!

Me and my hubby have had a few of those, and I feel for you, as I know what you mean! we always manage to work them out, but usually a few "go back home if you miss it so much" are said before the making up session....

I am glad you worked them out, and hope that the compromises you have made stay and change your relationship for the better! Best of luck for the future!
