Organizing the Packet...

Hello,

This weekend I will be compiling the packet ready to mail on Monday or Tuesday. (Tuesday is the 90th day, so don't know whether to send on the Monday to arrive Tuesday, or Tuesday to arrive Wed).

Anyway, I'd like to ask y'alls opinion on organizing the evidence. I have tabs etc, but wasn't sure whether to organize it all chronologically, for example we have stuff from October 2006 (one month after GC approved) then every 6 months after until this month, and then have another tab for Misc (i.e. affidavits, wills, life insurance etc). Or to organize it in the categories that they specify on the instructions...

I suspect perhaps it doesn't matter in the end, but I'd rather try to make the package as easily accessible as possible, to make the officer's life easier, given that it will probably be evaluated many months from now (given the times at VSC).

and oh, I'm doing the 2 hole punch/acco clip thing.

I organized mine by categories, and within the "travel category" I did it chronologically by trip. And I used a clip for each category, then bound it together with one huge binder clip.

I organized mine by category as well, and then within the category by dates, so that for bank statements I put the earliest one to the most recent one in date order; for taxes, the earliest to most recent, etc. I included a few photographs from trips to visit both families so I included those in with the relevant trip information in chronological order. I did the 2 hole punch Acco fastener thing as well:-) with a list of contents right after the application form. I also wrote my name and A# on top of everything as well. Good luck!

Next stupid question from me - is there any problem to have legal sized docs along with letter sized one? Just the house papers are all legal sized. Should I photocopy them on to multiple sheets of letter sized paper? I seem to remember that there was a note somewhere about using standard paper sizes... or I am overthinking (which is what hubby will say )

Specifically in the assembling app tips on the USCIS.gov site it says 'Avoid submitting oversized documentation when possible.' Is legal oversized?

My marriage certificate is on a legal sized sheet -- I photocopied it on two pages of letter -- did that for AOS and had no problems, so I did again for ROC.

I think it's possible to over-think these kinds of things...

I just put everything in an organized manner (had a cover letter detailing each piece of evidence in order) and then used paper clips to give things a bit of a flow and that was it.

I think that you will be just fine.
