I think it appointment post... thats what the popup dialogue says when i click for my country's selection.

tpi008, HCMC post in VN is an appointment post. As a result, you must send PC to NVC. When your wife obtains the PC, she can ask the same place to do the translation. Keep in mind that once you submit the original PC to NVC, you don't need to bring the original one to interview. Here's the latest email that HCMC sent to me:

Thank you for your inquiry. If you have already provided your wife's Police certificate to
NVC
, the document should be in the case file transferred our office from
NVC
. Your wife does not need to re-do a Police certificate.

If you have further inquiries, please do not delete your original email and please include the complete case number (HCM XXXX-XXX-XXX) in all correspondence.

can i have her email me a copy of the PC? the thing is she sent the package without the PC and she won't be able to get a hold of that document after a week.

I never had much information regarding this. So would it be ok if she email me a copy and I print it out and send it to NVC? a copy meaning uncertified.

What Tyrobe means is that if you once submited the original or certified copy to NVC, they say you don't have to get another original for the interview, but you still have to mail an original to NVC, your wife can't just fax or email you a copy. If she is able to fax you a copy why wouldn't she mail the original police certificate to you?

hi Tyrobe, nice to hear from you and hope you guys got approved!

I just received the package my wife sent this morning, comes with everything except the Police Certificate. At this point i don't know whether I should sent what I have or hold off until I get the PC, and I really need advice on how to get it from my wife ASAP preferably within 1-3 days. Anybody have any ideas?

If I were you...I would wait for the original PC and then forward the whole package to NVC, so that it won't slow down the whole process. Submit everything that is needed so that it will get out of NVC in no time.

Good luck.

Also, you should write your case number and beneficiary's name on the back of the 2 pictures. My husband also wrote our case number on every document sent to NVC, that makes the whole review process easier as faster for them.

k thanks. i will do that. I will add the case number on all docs including [ictures. I will also wait since you guiys say it will slow down the process even more. The thing is I have to wait a week or 2 more for the PC to come to me. wouldn't it be better if I just turn what I got in already?

No, I'm sure that would not be a good idea since they can't move on without full documentation for their review plus they would consider this as an RFE and this might cause delay on your case. I'd rather wait for the ones that are still missing and would send them all at once, this way NVC will get full documentation and will work on your case till it is completed, it's safer to send them all at once.

do i have to translate other documents too? all of them? or just the police certificate?

cause i don't think any of the documents are translated. such as passport, ID, birthcertificate...etc...

tpi, im tryin to get my wife an immigrant visa from HCM Consulate too. All documents in Vietnamese must be accompanied by translations from a certified translator. The translations must include statements saying that 1. the translator is competent to translate and 2. the translation is accurate. That's been said, you'll have to have them translated by a notary public who can read Vietnamese (and have the translations notarized too). I think you can do this here in the USA at one of the many Vietnamese Service Centers where u can buy flight ticket to Vietnam, send money to Vietnam, have your petitions filed etc. Me, I got my wife taken care of all that translations (they have certified translators in Vietnam too) so every document she sent me has 1 original, 1 photocopy, and 1 translation.

For the copy of the biometric page of her passport, she didn't have translation since that page is bilingual (viet and english)

About the Police Certificate, you should call her and tell her to immediately go get one at the local Dep. of Justice office. It took my wife 3 weeks for that piece of paper, so you should expect the same for your wife. If she has no idea where to apply for it, tell her to go to "So Tu Phap" to get the "Ly lich tu phap", that's Vietnamese for Dep. of Justice and Police Certificate, respectively.

I know you want to push it through rather quickly, but I recommend that you wait for however long it takes to have ALL required documents and translations in hand before sending them to the NVC along with the 230. Better be slow than be sorry, dude.

Good luck on the remaining of your visa journey.

Hi,

I'm almost there.

I'm just waiting on the package (DS-230 & Documents) from my wife from Vietnam. As soon as that arrives I will mail it off immediately.

I just want to get a feedback from everyone who has just gotten their case completed.

My concern and question is, is it necessary to include "Court & Prison Records" if my wife have never been arrested or gone to jail or prison.

Second question/concern is "Deportation Documentation", she never been deported either.

As for Divorce papers, she never been divorced.

And military records, she was never in the military.

Also "Police certificates"... Can any one tell me if I need to send these in? Cause this is not what's included in the package that my wife sent me.

She only sent what she was able to provide at the time, which is certified copies of Birth Certificate, Marriage Certificate and Passport along with 2"x2" pictures. I appreciate the quick responses.

what if the documents are in Vietnamese, do I have to have a certified translation of the copies?

I hope to hear from people with cases for Vietnam, however, any answers from any other counties are certainly appreciated as well. Thanks.

hello there, I just sent the DS-230 & documents to my husband the estimated time to arrive it in USA is on the 9th June. His just waiting for those documents and his going to send the AOS & DS-230 packets right away to NVC. Goodluck to us.

The best thing to do is to WAIT for the Original Police Clearance before submitting your DS-230 packet. NVC will NOT PROCESS INCOMPLETE DOCUMENTS most likely, because if u submitted it w/o the PC you'll get RFE & will delay the process.
