Visa granted on the same day?

I know this may not be the same in every country but I'd like to have an ideia on when the consulates grant the visa, is it at the same day as the interview or in the very next day or it takes even more sometimes??

How did it go fot those who had the visa granted??

We were approved on May 27, after two days on 29 we picked up the passport with visa and yellow envelope. This is Lima,Peru embassy.

Brazil will tell you if you were approved or not on that same day but will not issue the visa on that same day. They tend to wait 2 days then send the visa to the address you tell them you want it to go to, can be your hotel if you will still be in Rio or to your state, they also give you the option of using express mail which you have to pay for of course. They do not allow pick up of the visa, the fastest way to get it will be to go ahead and pay for the express mail.

In Colombia the CO tells you right there on the spot if you have been approved or not. If the visa was approved, it will be delivered to the address you give them within 2-10 business days.

Thank you guys for all your comments, it was very helpful. I think it works differently in each country, since DaniAndEnrique was allowed to pick it up at the consulate.

I've emailed my consulate asking about this, I think I'll know it for sure in a week. If I can collect my visa at the consulate I'll stay in Rio, otherwise I'll just buy my return ticket for the same day leaving Rio right after the interview.

Up until last November people were able to pick up their visas in Colombia two days after the interview but they changed it starting December 2007 even if you request to pick it up instead of having it delivered.

You can get it sent to your hotel, but Rio does not allow pickup, there was a recent post about this and they had the visa mailed to their hotel and it arrived about 2 days after the interview. Wish I could find that post, but my wife did email them about it as well and they told her the fastest way to get was to have it mailed express.

No, we didnt picked up in consulate visa, we have been told to pay 16 soles(about $6)in DHL office that was outside the building in embassy, give the address to visa be delivered or go in person in DHL office(closest area we live) and pick up the visa.
