Been busy so I have not been able to post our experience from last weeks interview.

Our interview was for 11:15 and we were called in around 12:00. The officer repeatedly apologized for the delay. She mentioned that the office has been double booking interviews to catch up with the backlog. She stated she had not had a chance to look through the file. So she spent a few minutes and started asking the basic questions. My wife had a previous filing from a different sponsor. So she asked the details about that. She asked to see pictures and provide joint documents. She only needed a few although we had many more that we could have provided. We did not have my wife's birth certificate however had 2 affidavits and letter from the consulate verifying her birth date. She said to her this was acceptable but office policy required either a non-availability or the birth certificate. She said she could not adjudicate us for this reason. She gave us a RFE for the birth certificate. Took us a week and lot of hard work to get my wifes birth certificate from India. However we will be mailing in a copy this coming week.

Over all the interview was breeze. Just make sure to have everything organized therefore you don't have to sit there longer then required and the officer can also move along.

For anyone who had an RFE during the interview. Any ideas on how long before we hear back after we submit the evidence required?

I'm glad your interview went well. We had an RFE at our interview to get a joint sponsor. It took about 2 weeks to get all the info together. We mailed it in on the 6th, was received on the 7th and we got the approval email on the 9th. So it took 2 days for them to approve it once they received it.

I too had a very agreeable experience at the local Washington, DC (Fairfax, VA) office for my AOS interview. You can see a detailed review on my timeline page.

Our IO apologized as well, which I found so weird... because I was like: "Be as late as you want, as long as we get approved!" :D
