Affadavit of Support

I am sponsoring my wife who is from Canada. I was a student until Dec 2007. Since then I flew over to Canada to spend time with my wife until now ( approx 4 months), having been in Canada I DO NOT have a job. We just received letters from Visa asking us to file and Affadavit of support. Since I don't have a job in the US since Dec 2007 until present, will this affect my wife's immigration process? My sister is my co-sponsor, is that enough? or do I need to fly back to the US to get a job ASAP before my wife's interview?

You have to fill out an I-864 as well, but as long as your sister is above the 125% poverty guidelines for whomever she is sponsoring, you'll be fine. She'll have to submit a serperate I-864 with you. If you have had a job filed for taxes in the past 3 years, make sure you submit your W-2s and tax returns. If you didn't have a job then you won't have to worry about filing taxes. The NVC is only asking for the last Tax return, so techincally you can just exempt yourself from that and basically label yourself as a student. Like I said though, as long as your sister is above the poverty guidelines, you'll be fine.
