hi joyce,

Welcome! you can enroll for college study but you will have to pay nonresident fees(much higher),but if you are enrolling in a program at a private school, which most med asst programs are, they only have thier usual fee.no dif between res & nonres. I have worked in an emergency room for many years and now in nursing school.med asst is a pretty good place to start a career.it doent take alot of time and allows you to get an idea if the medical field is what you want to do.Go for it.the starting pay is good considering the short time you have to study.Good Luck in school!!

joyce,

First off,Welcome to the U.S. Schools dont care about any of that stuff.they are not bound by U.S. law like employers are.it is not illegal to go to school here if you have not AOS. it is illegal to work. your hubby made a good choice to start you out in med asst.if you need any help with studing I know i can help. I been working in the medical fiels for 15 yrs.i started as an EMT on an ambulance then went to work in ER.take care

Yes you can, however, most state sponsored colleges will consider you a NON-Resident and will charge non-resident rates.

This is something to check out with the college's admissions department.

May I make a suggestion:

In USA you only need a 2 year Associates Degree from a local Community College (So much cheaper than a College) in order to sit for the NCLEX to be a RN.

Also you can be a dental hygentist with a 2 year program.

Medical field is a good field to be in
