Hi,

I am married to an US citizen and she is a student currently and does not work. I am in the US on a work permit and have a full time job.

We are planning to apply for my green card through my spouse , however since my spouse does not work , will this be an issue ?

Can my employment here in the united states suffice for the green card processing.

Appreciate any feedback on this.

I believe your income will satisfy the I-864 requirements. My lawyer said that I could do that, but since my situation was different, that I should not. I would double check first with an immigration lawyer before you both decide that.

If you decide to not use your income for the I-864, or, you cannot use it for whatever reason, then you can have your wife get a co-sponsor. Relative, or close family friend to sponsor you. Like I mentioned, definitely check with a lawyer first. Best of luck on your journey.
