We had a great time staying in Nauplia (Peleponnes) and renting a car to go to all the ancient places around (Epidauros, Mykene, Nemea, Sparta, Olympia, Athens, Delphi). You can also consider island hopping, the ferries are cheap and just avoid touristy places such as San Torini - though a day trip ain't that bad in my experience.

Food is cheap btw!

Oh then if you tour the northern parts of the country you may get lucky with the weather!

Check out Lonely Planet guides... theres LOTS of info in the Greece version.

I thank God I have such a great boss... I am nearly sure he won't have any problems with the Mrs and I taking an extra bit to tour Europe (Greece included) next year.

lucky with the weather? like how? is it like winter stormy by then?

yeah, i will start perusing them sites. just that helpful hints by "live" folks tend to help focus on certain aspescts. muchas gracias.

Just unpredictability... rain more than anything (flooding, etc). But the trade off is LESS tourists... which is a good thing most of the time.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.
