My wife and I were married a few weeks ago, in my state your marriage license does not reflect the new given/chosen name just the names of the two parties being wed.

The very first thing the form I 485 and others ask for is, NAME.

Not sure if we should use her name used on the K-1 or use this document to start using her new married name.

As of yet we have nothing in her married name, should we just put her new name down on the documents?

So far we tried to go to SSN office to do a name change there and we were rejected because her K-1 is now expired.

Use married name and maiden name or previous names where asked for.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

!! ALL PAU!

I strongly advise you to use the MARRIED name. Make sure that it is what she wants. The name on the 485 will be the name on the greencard and to change it later is costly and a hassle. I have been having a hard time getting an identification card for my wife in her married name. But the DMV has agreed to issue her ID card in her MARRIED name ONLY because I have the receipt notice from 485 and it is in her MARRIED name. The name issue can become a major problem if not handled properly now, so please think about it carefully.

Cheers.
