I need gift ideas for someone who's leaving the company. This person has been with the company for 7 years. Here's what I know about this person:

She wants to spend time with her family: She has a trip planned to one of Texas national parks (her husband, 2 kids, and her). She is thinking about taking her kids to disneyworld for the first time

Some ideas I came up with:

*Dinner for 4 at a nice restaurant + flowers +card

*Gift card for outdoors equipment (we have a cabelas 20 min from here)- they might need equipment for their trip to the national park? ....+flowers + card

*It would be nice some flight tickets/ disney package gift card that they could use towards that vacation, but all I'm seeing requieres knowing the date of the trip and I don't think they have a set date yet.

Any ideas on gifts towards travel that you can share? any other ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Saludos,

Caro

I've been seeing these "experience" gift cards lately that seem pretty dang cool. You go onto their website and there's thousands of things to choose from, from regular stuff like movie tickets and restaurants to hot air balloon rides and surfing lessons and pretty much like...everything, it looks like. That might be really good for a vacation or for whatever she wants, really, and it's a bit more personal than just a generic visa giftcard I guess. I think it sounds fun to go online and see all the neat stuff you can do with it.

I think your ideas as is are pretty good too. In any case you sound like a really great friend :)

Oh cool, that's a great idea!

The gift is not coming from me, it's from the company, I have to choose it because I'm in the HR department

what my company did to a former co-worker was they gave her a check ($300) so she can use it whatever way she wants, a surprise potluck party for her which includes the giving of the flowers and cards pre-signed by all of the employees and personal gifts from all of us.

edited: I forgot to add that our department director took all of us out for lunch on my co-worker's last day, which was on a different day than the potluck.
