Ok, I'm reading conflicting data on the use of a personal check or not? How has the latest info? Also, if I was figerprinted for my K-1 visa do I need to pay the $70 for it again?

I used money order it is safe. Well people also use personal checks. it is upto you. and regarding fee for I 485 . AOS is $ 325 . In my case Biometrics were required and additional fee of $ 75 required. Better to read instruction in I 485 .

You need to pay the $70 fee. Don't know about checks because we used a money order. If I remember right the payment for AOS with the biometrics fee was $395, but somebody correct me if I'm wrong. It's always better to check on the uscis.gov website for fees and forms, so you don't miss any updates and send an outdated form or an incorrect fee by accident.

We just sent in our AOS packet on the 21st of April. I paid by two separate personal checks (one for I-485 and one for I-765). Both were cashed on May 1st.

The instructions in form I-485 say to use either check or money order so either is fine.

Also, if you use a personal check, you can find out your case number, by looking at the back of the cancelled check.
