Colleen - - hang on!

I know this won't help you, but you need to understand that it doesn't matter if it was a 'technical error' - they won't budge until they solve the name hit. The job of Homeland Security is just what their name implies - they don't grant immigration benefits without getting the clearances first. I'm sorry - but you need to face this now - get mad, punch something, whatever it takes - and then just get on with the wait.

I know it's not the same because we are together now, but we are still waiting for Wes' greencard because his security clearance is not complete. Our interview was 2 months ago.

You keep mentioning the phone bills. That was a worry of mine as well. Have you checked for an international calling plan to Ireland? I found an awesome plan for the UK and it saved me a TON of money the last couple of months we were apart......

You know... Olya and I finally figured this out. To us we have come to believe that this whole process is a very good thing for our relationship.

If you can wait months up months to be with the one you love...

If you can do all someone asks to be told, "oh, now you must do this and this to be together" and still continue...

If you can work together through all of these triffles...

If you can continue to communicate and give each other a boost when needed...

If you can both look at whatever comes and say together "we can do this"

THEN

THEN

You can be assured that your relationship has grown in so many ways that when you are together for the rest of your lives.. you will remain together!

Keep you head up and together you will persevere!

Excellent post!!! I know that the stress and strain and all the waiting has made Chas and I closer. We have had to learn how to 'help' the other person when they are down - what works and what doesn't - not to mention the fact that we are apart and still this much in love. I can only imagine how it will be when we're finally together. (L)

I am trying to hang on..........really I am. I am just so upset. I mention the phone bills because I work a second job to pay them(which is exhausting). I just thought that we were almost there.........we were, and now I don't know when his interview will be. I took a new job & told them that I needed to take off in May/June-that isn't happening now. I wanted to attend the interview, but now tickets are sooo expensive. It's just everything, I am tired and I miss him :( I want to move on with our lives. I know this is because he was denied entry, but come on!!! It was a 2 day overstay. We waited longer than most at Vermont, I just want to be with him. I am feeling really sorry for myself-I can't help it.

I am going to call the embassy & see if he can't get in sooner for the fingerprints-I mean come on!!! Why should he have to wait another month? He is so upset, I am upset and the crazy thing is................we can't really comfort eachother. It is all doing my head in.

Sorry guys for the "woe is me" attitude, I promise it will turn to anger tomorrow ;)

great post-I am crying like a big baby at work :crying:

will it matter that the noa2 expires 7/7????

I am assuming they will have to extend that-right?

They will indeed extend it as long as Gavin keeps the fingerprint appointment and all. You can probably e-mail them and doublecheck, but SOP is that the Consulate will extend the NOA-2 if processing can't be completed in the 4 months allowed.

Why the huge phone bills, Colleen? Do you guys not have broadband?

Skype can save you huge amounts. Even if one of you has broadband, Skype Out allows you to call from your computer to any phone and at very good rates.

The love of my life does not have a computer

I call his cell phone-I thought I had to call a land-line to use Skype. I have verizon(cell) they charge me 20 cents a minute-it's actually not that bad(I just can't call everyday-like I usually do)

20 cents a minute? Ouch. You can do better.

Does he have a landline?

No, you can use Skype Out and call either his cell phone or his home phone. I think it probably costs a bit more to call a cell, but I'd definitely check out the rates. Its WAY better than 20 cents a minute!! Sheesh. That's highway robbery!!!!!!!!

Heck, most calling cards have better rates than 20 cents a minute. Check out Noblecom.com.

Yikes!!! For those prices you could have bought him a PC! :o

It sounds like she is calling cell to cell. It can't get any higher than that. And even if you use calling cards, they always charge more to dial a cell.

I bought my phone cards from Viapin.com (still do, in fact, for Ewen to call home). Very good rates to the UK (1.3c/min if you can call domestic long distance for free, as most American mobile plans allow); I can't imagine Ireland is too different.

I use g-phone and I love it. The rates are great and the reception is even better.

www.gphone.com its the postpaid service. Basically you set up an account and you can link any phone number to that account. I have my account linked to my cell phone. You call the access number from your phone (speed dial ofcourse) and it automatically recognizes you and you just enter the phone number you want to dial. They send you a statement at the end of the month with the call records via e-mail and deduct the amount from your account. They set your limit at $50 per month, but if you fill our a form and send it to them you can increase it to whatever you like.

I checked and for Dublin, its 8 cents per min. I call from my cell to my hunny's cell in Jordan and I pay 2o cents per min.

I am currently looking into the possiblilty of having my case transfered to Greece as they accept applicants from other countries. I spoke to the NVC about this and they told it was a common practice and does not make a difference in the outcome of the case. They said if I want to transfer my case to another embassy. I have to get in touch with that embassy first and see if they are willing to accept. If they accept the embassy will contact the embassy where your case currently resides and get it transfered.

Just an FYI, I don't think you're going to have much luck with that, unless your sweetie is legally resident in Greece. It is common practice for foreign nationals to interview outside their country of citizenship (for example, citizen of country A interviews has a work visa in country B, and so he interviews in country B instead), but only if he or she is legally resident outside of their country of citizenship. "Consulate shopping," from what I have read, is discouraged.

Actually the embassy in Greece does not require you to be a resident. Its stated on their website and I have confirmed that with them. Its up to each individual embassy on a case by case basis if they want to accept the case.

That's odd, I've always known Athens to require residency from one or the other partner (that's where we filed, so it's one of the places I keep an eye on). In fact a recent request for a non-resident DCF was just turned down in Athens even tho the 3rd country national is legally resident in Greece. ..I'll be interested to know what you find out about this---can you PM me the link to the info you found?

Would a Jordanian citizen normally need a visa to stay in Greece for X period of time? Does your timline really say that you can't get a K-1 appointment until 07??? :o

Seriously, you could probably get him a basic PC for like 300 euros....

I know-he should have bought one. All I know is.................for the next few months-I won't be calling at all. after all this #######-I think I should definetly do my best to be there for the interview. Tickets are over $800, so no more phone calls  at least not every day!

rebeccajo................do you think it would hurt to try & call the embassy again to see if he can get these fingerprints done a little sooner?
