I went to a social security office here in NJ and they told me that I would need some sort of work permit in order to get my fiancee her ssn. Ive read here that the K-1 allows you to work and that we should be able to get her the ssn. My question is that does someone have a link to info I could take with me to the ss office to show them that we should be able to get her a ssn? We are going to be getting married April 19 and I had hoped to have this done before but I havent been able to find any information about it. Thanks for the help in advance.

It was one here in New Jersey in Mount Holly. My fiance says that the airport took her I-94 so im kind of stuck on what to do about this whole thing now. They gave her papers for the I-765 which I didnt think what was to be used to K-1 visas. More to come I guess

Did you look through her passport and papers real good? They keep one half of the I-94 and the other half is normally stapled in the passport.

We went last week to get my husband's social security in trenton, nj...she only looked at his passport and I 94. We did however, take a printout from VJ regarding k1--allowing one to work provided u have the necessary work documents. He got his ssn in the mail within one week.
