I am a US Citizen, yesterday I had the interview for my wife’s GC petition, everything went very smooth, the official was very nice and told us that everything from his side was ok but that he could not stamp her passport because we had another I-130 from a previous petition which is true, when I was a permanent resident I filed an I-130 for my wife, then after 3 years I became a citizen and we filed it again to start the process. He gave us a letter with that says that our case is continued there are 4 options on this paper and he marked the option that says:

OTHER: The service must request a relating file. You will be notified by mail.

He told us that he needed to request the old I-130 and that as soon as he receive that document he will approved the case and that we will receive the GC in the mail.

Has anyone experience this before? How long does it take to receive the GC?

Because I was told by an officer from the USCI 1-800 that I needed to file a new one.

The mis information line strikes again. Ho way to tell how long it will take for the 2 to marry up but if you havent heard anything in about 6 - 8 weeks make a infopass.

I am getting frustrated now, I have not heard anything about my wife's GC  Her grandfather is very sick and we wanted to go visit him during the summer but they way this is going I do not see us traveling this summer. I see that a lot of people know that their case has been "touched" how do I find out if our case has been touched?

I hope you get the greencard - but if you want to visit why not get an AP - yes its more money down the drain but it will let you travel in peace. Good Luck

You can check if the application has been "touched" by logginng in here:

https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/jsps/termscondi...ntextType=CU_EN

Create an account and "add a case to your portfolio". The last date you see show up in one of the columns is the date they last did something woth your application (eg. read it one day, moved to another shelf the next day, read it again)

We also had a similiar issue that the requesting file needed to be checked. We were interviewed a month after you and also had our previous I-130 requested. Now did he give you a letter after the interview? WE received one that said to ask in 4 months if nothing has occurred. Maybe you can place an inquiry now..it has been a long time. Our four months will be up in Sept I think but I am hounding them NOW as I don't trust them one darn bit.

Also, the officer told us it takes 2 weeks to receive a requested file. so if you think about--byt the end of April your officer should have received the file.

good luck!

I-485 , I-765, I-130: NOA1 : 1/23/2006

Went back to renew EAD through Infopass: EAD card was not given "due to reasons we can't disclose"

5/3/2007: Confirmation that EAD is delayed due to background checks. (started to use the senator, ombudsman and was just a royal pain in the neck)

5/30/2007: EAD production ordered (after over 400 days of waiting!!! woo hoo!)

AOS Interview: 5/12/2008!!! FINALLLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
