Mary Carey is not only fugly and trashy, but also deeply disturbed. Didn't anyone else watch Celeb Rehab? She's in porn because she was abused. And she has a drug problem. Wow, sexy.

judgemental much?

Mary Carey is fugly btw

all i saw was boobage

Oh, and liberals have Liv Tyler. Which pretty much negates the entire list of neocon hotties and then some. :D

liv tyler isn't all that.

...I think most porn actors and industry workers are just normal people like you and me, who don't have the hangups a lot of us have about our own bodies and sexuality. The fact that there's a boatload of money to be made helps a little. :)

Not having hangups about bodies and sexuality helps you have a healthier sex life. It doesn't normally lead to having sex for money. Would you say the same thing about street hookers? These are hookers who are also exhibitionists.

I don't have anything against porn, but call a spade a spade. Just because in your six months at that company you met some porn stars doesn't mean you have deep insight into their psyches. I'm sure most of them are capable of behaving as normal people do.

So...you DO have insight into their psyches?

Whatever. I'm not here to argue. I'm just saying that in my experience the people in porn are just normal people doing something that's a little out of the ordinary. If you have experience to the contrary, feel free to cite. But just because you find what they do personally abhorrent doesn't mean you should just make stuff up.

I don't have anything against prostitution. I think it should be legalized. And most porn stars (that I met anyway) are not exhibitionists. They do what they do in front of a camera, not walking around the mall.

They are just people with very little self worth.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

I don't find their jobs abhorrent. I don't have any insight into their psyches, either, other than a few porn actors I met who I really wouldn't call representative of the whole industry or anything. I'm just saying neither do you, and that it isn't fair to say they're all well adjusted when that doesn't seem to be generally the case. I'm not judging them for doing their job. I also think prostitution should be legalized. Don't make assumptions.

I'm sorry about what I said about Mary Carey. The point wasn't to judge her, but to point out that she comes off in interviews and on TV as unstable, unsure of who she is, and completely lacking in self-worth and confidence. When people look at women with big boobs and make sex jokes (gov't fcuking you, you'd enjoy it), and ignore their problems, that kinda bugs me.

Again, not in my experience. The people I met were (or seemed to be) very well-adjusted professionals. In the office or at social events (I was never on a "shoot") you'd have thought it was any other dot com.

As a society we should be promoting people become doctors, scientists, humanitarians etc. People who will actually help the human race rather than taking it back 5,000 years to the pointless era of self gratification.

Edit: For example, I always laugh when I here someone in the porn industry making an oxymoron statement like Christians are backwards..

Why do you say "that doesn't seem to be generally the case"? If my 6 months doesn't qualify for anything, what experience or research are you drawing on to make this conclusion?

:pop: this oughta be good.

why? they screw too.

I don't really think my personal experience or your personal experience or anyone's personal experience is in any way useful for judging the mental states of others. I don't think you can usually judge someone's mental health just from talking to them or looking at them in day to day life.

But, most of us have boundaries about sex that wouldn't allow us to be porn stars. These people, for whatever reason, do not have normal sexual boundaries, or they wouldn't be able to do their job. They also must be willing to have sex with hundreds+ people (another boundary most here wouldn't cross). These things all violate normal societal rules.

Many people without normal sex boundaries have been abused. Many people overall have been abused, and you wouldn't know it by looking. I don't have a problem with porn at all, but it's something to keep in mind.

One is about teaching good moral character while the other is solely about satisfying primitive urges.

Sex is primitive?

Well excuse me for not having figured out how to achieve pleasure and reproduce via osmosis yet.

1. I judged her mental health because like many other people with nothing better to do, I watched her on Celebrity Rehab having actual therapy sessions. Then I listened to a mental health expert give his opinion on her mental health.

If I were to just meet her, I might have an impression but I'd reserve judgment of her mental health. As I hope you would.

2. You seem to think I'm some sort of prude who feels porn actors are "deviant." I don't think they are except in that they deviate from the norm. If someone feels really comfortable with their sexuality, and wants to have sex with a lot of people, then I have no problem with that. I have a few friends who do that, and I'm cool with it. I had a few other friends who had tons of partners and were doing it to fill some void. That sucked. Doing it for money is another thing altogether. Do I think it should be legal? Yes. Do I think there is anything wrong with porn or prostitution? No. But do I think it's possible that many of the people who work in that industry are willing to participate because of something painful in their lives? Yeah, maybe.

I'm not saying they're all like that. This all began when I made a statement about Mary Carey based on what mental health professionals had said about her. I didn't base it on generalizations about people in porn in general. I do believe a lot of porn workers are probably a bit psychologically wounded, but that doesn't really have any impact on any opinion I have of their work. I also don't judge them for something that may have happened to them.

If you'd like to crusade against the sexually inhibited or something, I think you're barking up the wrong tree.
