OK , so here's the thing, I am relatively new to this whole process, tho I have to admitt I have met some very lovely people on here. You know who you are :P . Anyways, I sent my I-130 off, recieved my NOA1, sent off the I-129f and have yet to hear from anyone, its only been a little over a week, so I am not to impatient yet as I know it will take a bit of time, my questions are,

1) Now that i have filed the I-129f what kind of wait time are we expecting?

(I know so many of you are without your SO and I hope for a speedy process for you all

its just I am soooooo impatient)

2) What is being "touched"? I check our I-130 often and cant tell if anything is moving along.

3) What can I expect for my next step? Please tell me I dont have to fill out tooo many more forms!

Thanks for any advice/help in advance, you all have been so kind and it really has helped to have talked with you and know there is support for this LONGGGGGGG Journey!

1) The wait time for the processing of the I-129f is about 3 or 4 months. Then it gets sent to the National Visa Center which is part of the State Department. They then forward it to the US Embassy in your SO home country or the country in which you were married...if it wasn't the US or his/her home country. After that they send him and you ANOTHER set of paperwork. This includes him/her having to take a physical and you sending paperwork about your finances...you have to be 125% above the poverty line or get a co-sponsor...a co-signer that is. Then after all this...your SO will be scheduled for an interview at the embassy. If you have all the paperwork, this shouldn't be too big a deal. Then after the interview, getting the stamp/visa is the passport is usually pretty quick. The timeline for this whole process varies...but think at least six months.

2) Being touched...means someone did something...but doesn't necessarily mean anything at all. Basically it just means they looked at something...ie touched.

3) Oh yes...lots more forms. Even once the K3 visa is issued. The first thing is Employment Authorization. They can live and travel in the US...but can't work until they do EAD. Another 3 to 4 months for this one. You must also do Adjustment of Status...remember the K3 visa is only good for 2 years. Basically it is a temporary fix while they process the I-130.

That's the short answer. There is a file here that explains it all in more detail. But welcome to a long journey.
