By my timeline...I got my notice that my stuff was sent to montreal on October 20th 2005, and I recieved my pkg 3 in the mail in Canada November 4 2005...however it took me almost 8 months to have all my information together that they required b4 I sent back the checklist..if you already have a passport, the long form of your birth certificate etc, you wont be in the same boat as me. Once I sent the checklist in, I had my interview within 8 weeks, visa was sent a week or so later, I couldnt wait around Montreal for the weekend to pick it up myself. They did have the option to pick it up the next day, however, my interview was on a Frida and apparently they arent open Saturday, so the extra 2 days werent an option. Visa in hand, I could have moved immediately but had a few things to wrap up. You would probably be safe to say about 3 months from now you could be moving....this is just a guess based on my experience.

Don't expect an interview 8 weeks after sending your Packet 3 to Montreal now. They are severely backlogged. We're at almost 8 weeks since sending our checklist, and we haven't even been assigned an interview date yet. They told me yesterday that they are assigning interview dates in July now, so at the very minimum it will be 4 months from sending the checklist in to the interview date - and that's if we get a date this week, which I'm not really counting on. Timelines here show that Montreal hasn't issued a single K1 interview date to anyone here since the beginning of April. There's lots of us waiting.

Timeline

  • Here's the Timeline data for everyone going through Montreal in 2006 who's already been processed by the NVC.
Received By Received
Consulate Packet 3
25/01/2006	17/02/2006
26/01/2006	31/01/2006
27/01/2006	21/02/2006
06/02/2006	13/02/2006
14/02/2006	17/02/2006
23/02/2006	02/03/2006
23/02/2006	02/03/2006
02/03/2006	14/03/2006
02/03/2006	15/03/2006
09/03/2006	17/03/2006
20/03/2006
30/03/2006	10/04/2006
03/04/2006	06/04/2006
19/04/2006	28/04/2006

Based on your timeline and that the above cases averaged 10.23 days,
Apr. 20/06 NOA2 --- Approved
Apr. 28/06 --- NVC Received
May 2/06 --- Left NVC
???????? --- Arrived at Montreal Consulate
???????? --- Packet 3 Received
Since it left NVC on May 2nd, I would expect that you would receive packet 3 around Friday May 12 or Monday May 15.
But since no two cases are exactly the same, it could always be longer or shorter.
I wouldn't be surprised if you receive your packet 3 a week after my estimate.
(In my case, my NOA2 was April 17 and NVC still hasn't received it from the CSC!)
Good luck.

i think it took 2 days? 3 days? for my package to get to Montreal once sent from NVC. But as others have said, Montreal is in a slow period right now, so the sooner you can get your package 3 information back to Montreal, the better off you'll be.
