Medical Exam and Vaccines in Lima Peru

Is medical exam appointment date given by embassy or is it scheduled by us?

If the medical exam appointment date is given by the embassy, can we change it?

Can we choose which of the 3 medical offices we want to use?

What medical office do people here recommend based on experience?

It appears from other post that I have read about vaccines, that even if the person has no records of past vaccines that everything can be taken care of during the medical exam, is this

the same experience other people have had?

What vaccines of the 12 listed are being required at the medical exam:

1. Paperas

2. Sarampiòn

3. Rubeola

4. Polio

5. Tétano y Difteria

6. Toxoides Tétánico y Difteria

7. Tos Convulsiva

8. Influenza tipo B (HIB)

9. Hepatitis B

10. Varicela

11. Numocòcica

12. Influenza

You can pick which doctor you go to, Prices are a little different and availability dates are different. Isa went to Dr. Nora Lari and your fiance will want to schedule as soon as possible. I think Isa had all of the vacinations because she hadn't had any since she was a baby.

You can choose any of the 3 doctors from the list, you will need your letter from Packet 3/4 to schedule it but you can schedule it whenever is most convenient (schedule as soon as you can after receiving the packet.

All of the vaccinations are required to be met, though only the Doctor will be able to tell you which are needed based on individual medical needs.

The vaccines can be taken care of by the Dr. even if no records are available (this will be an additional charge and the cost will depend on what is needed). In our case the vaccinations were done over two days because the Dr. did not want to give too many on one day......

If it helps we used, Dr. Situ he was great. Though in all honesty I have never heard a complaint on any of the 3 in Lima.

My husband and I will be in the jungle outside of Iquitos when the packet is received. I hope to know when the interview is scheduled before I leave the US. No telephone, electricity, water, or MAIL in the jungle. And the last three mails I sent to Iquitos have not arrived. If the NVC straightens out the mess they made quickly, I may know.

How long does it take to get the results of the medical? We will be flying into Lima for the medical and interview. So of course we need to arrange plane reservations. Any insight would be very helpful.

Well my husband went yesterday May 9, and Dr. Nora Lari told him to come back on Tuesday for his results. I have read some of the posts that some of the medical can be picked up next day.

How many vaccines did she need? My fiancee paid 560 soles for 3 vaccines, including the dreaded HPV one, and this was with Dr Oscar; I was expecting way worse, given the experience of a few other people with him. Some had paid as much as 1200 soles for vaccines.
