Good evening everybody,

I'm a little confused about the medical examination needed for AOS.

Actually I don't have any medical records available and never had med exam abroad so I understand I need to do a complete I-693 medical exam and I-693A here, in the US. Am I right?

Would it be wise to send out to Chicago the AOS package (I-130, I-485, I-864, I-765 and I-131) without including the I-693 and I-693A or should I wait to have everything in hand to send a complete package out?? I'm asking you for advice as the soonest appointment I was able to make for the medical exam is mid April!!

Also does anybody can give me a the price of a complete I-693 in Maine.

The price I've been told by the doc I contacted is almost 500$... really out of my budget!!!!

Thanks for your advice.

Caroline.

I can answer only one little part of your question and hopefully someone else will be able to answer more:

$500 sounds inflated, heavily. I remember mine was around $200, or a bit less. Now, that could be because mine was in Seattle, and because I already had some of the shots in my blood (I took them back in Yugoslavia), so if you need every single shot, then maybe you need to pay a lot more than me. Still, $500 sounds too much. I would at least contact another doctor and see what they would charge.

Since your I-485 application is based family sponsorship, you don't have to include Medical exam with I-485. As long as you get the medical exam done and have the doctor complete I-693 sealed either you get Request For Evidence(RFE) on medical exam or until the interview, you will be fine.

Keep in mind that the medical exam should be done by USCIS Civil Surgeon listed on USCIS wensite. This is the link of doctors in Maine. https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=of...or.statecode=ME

$500 seems too high in my opinion, since for the immigration prupose the doctor only run 2 tests relating blood test and checks the required vaccination. Usually costs around $200, more or less. Call around the number on the USCIS Civil Surgeon list and when you call the doctor's office remember to mention that it is for Immigration.

In the meantime, you can start TB test and Vaccinations at your local county health department. They are more affordable and lots of times insurance can cover the vaccination costs. On the day of doctor's appointment you bring the record of complete d TB test result and vaccinations from the health deparment which will save you money and time. Good luck!

Thanks a lot for your replies.

The problem I had with some of the doctors listen by the USCIS is that they don't accept people that are not their patient for at least 6 months!!! Doesn't make sence to me... Don't they already know how long the process is!!!!

Thanks

Caroline.

Hi Caroline,

I had my medical exam for $220. I checked about the price on the phone with several places and it ranged around 200 to 320 and that's the price if you did not have anything done before which was the case with me. Prices may change from state to state but 500 is still too much. I think you can find a reasonable one if you search for more places.

You most def need to send ur medical in with you AOS, i sent one and still got an RFE because it was just the vaccination supplement and not the whole exam. so dont wait to send it send it with ur whole package. you cannot wait until ur interview to send it, it has to be done before ur interview. my rfe states this. you will not have an interview if you are missing information.
